That would be as good of a guess as mine. I hope he can get it turned around as well. There are certainly the players continuing to come through the state. My son was talking about it the other night when Beal and Porter were playing.

I read some place where Tatum referred to Mizzou as "we"
I'm sorry I can't find where I saw that quote.

I don't know about the Yess kid but I thought that West was pretty lousy. I might be thinking of the wrong sport though.

With the amount of friendships and connections in basketball with the AAU circuit I'm surprised that 4/5 good buddies don't say let's go to that place and make it legit.

Could you imagine if Tatum and those other two or three guys our new assistant knows decided to come to Mizzou.

Happened to SLU back in the days of Larry Hughes. Oh wait, that was Tatum's dad too.

It would be nice, just don't see it happening. Has there actually been a formal announcement about Tate btw?

"Keeping great future Mizzou student-athletes close to home is a priority." - Corey Tate. #LevelUp

If he believes that and can deliver that, it's a shame they didn't hire him instead of Loos or someone to begin with.

ETA - Not meant as a slam on Loos, just wondering what difference it might have made with Tatum if Tate was here from the beginning.

Cook cut his list to 6. Mizzou, Iowa, Iowa State, Arkansas, Florida, and Virginia all make the cut. He eliminated kansas from his list, so that tells me he's a smart kid. Sounds like Mizzou is the team to beat, and he plans on signing in November before the season starts.

Don't know about UF without Donavan, but they always make me nervous with Eagles players. I'd also be a bit nervous about Arky. Hell, Virginia and Iowa State are tough to argue against as well. I like our chances with Tate now. Before then, I would have said we were maybe 2nd or 3rd on that list.

That's the problem. There is more to it than that. KA has to combat that and get kids to stay home. Or at least a larger percentage than past coaches have gotten. Hell, KA and Tate and nearly everyone on the staff has acknowledged that they have to do better in Missouri. And with the rash of recent offers, I'd say they're trying. IMO they just dropped the ball with Tatum for whatever reason.

Speaking of Tatum, per Cusumano, Tatum was asked if the hiring of Tate would change his thoughts about Mizzou and according to Cusumano, he gave a definitive "No."

If Tatum stays local it was always going to be SLU. I don't really see that as dropping the ball.

He got out worked. That's dropping the ball.

I agree though, that he has legit interest in SLU. But he also had it in Mizzou. What's funny is nearly everyone was saying SLU was just lip service and he'd more likely end up at Mizzou over SLU. At least until he cut Mizzou. Now his interest in SLU is legit because KA sure can't hold any blame in getting cut.

Yeah, but mainly Mizzou peeps though. I'm an odd duck and root for both, but always saw him as a SLU lean over Mizzou. I'm not really getting my hopes up for SLU though either. If it happens great.

Both in the same boat there. I got a strange feeling about SLU. Don't know why, just a feeling. The only thing he'd be giving up is a one year run at a national title, which admittedly is a big thing. On the flip side, spending 1 year at Duke, he won't mean much more to that school than the other 100 kids that have played under Coach K. Conversely, going to SLU, he will be revered forever, even for just 1 year. And he saw first hand through his godfather that going to SLU isn't going to inhibit his chances in the NBA.

So 1 title run versus being revered forever. Tough call.

All these offers going out in the last 2 weeks got me to thinking, might be the most D 1 Talent to come out of the state in a long time over the next 3 years. If we can keep the current roster and start winning some games MIzzou will maybe have the opportunity to win with a Missouri laden roster.
