got an offer. Coaches had been more on him than Sneed lately.
Because Sneed said "I'm not coming."
I'd take a 3* top 150 STL kid over a 4* kid in Florida. All day every day. I'm guessing Kim would have too.

So there's a clinic being hosted in St. Louis where a bunch of coaches who are trying to make in roads into the STL recruiting grounds are attending. Pastner. Cuonzo Martin. Some others as well, though none of the blue bloods. I wonder if KA got an invite. Location of the clinic? Harris Stowe.
Why does it sound like Fuller is doing a better job of recruiting the STL and he doesn't even have a job. The fact that he can bring in all of these top (not elite) coaches to Harris Stowe and pair them up with the top STL talent tells me he's still working behind the scenes.

I truly hope that KA has a plan because I'm just not seeing it. Will take a kid like VanLeer, who may turn out to be solid but was hardly recruited out of high school because he wants kids that bleed black and gold. But then when there is a Missouri kid who is being recruited he passes supposedly in favor of a kid from Florida, which cuts against everything KA said about not recruiting elite players unless there's a connection to him, all after having backed off recruiting an elite local talent in Tatum.
Bottom line is I tend to agree with ya 808 because for KA to have backed off of Sneed cuts against everything KA has espoused, plus the hiring of Tate.

Guess I question the idea that you have to get local kids. Sure I would like to get them, but as long as the coaches bring in players that help the team win I'm ok if Mizzou wins, where the players are coming from doesn't matter.

You don't have to get local kids to win. No one said you did.
KA said that's who they were going to target. Let's just admit that they missed on Sneed instead of constructing ridiculous hypotheticals.

How do we know that they missed on Sneed over passing.
I don't know the answer to that. I assume it will come out in time, I'm sure. I Just can't get worked up over any one recruit. Especially any player that won't really be a major contributor in his first year here.
If Mizzou wins is all that matters. Maybe his strategy will work maybe it won't. I'm willing to give him a chance to not only bring in recruits, but to try developing those players.
Only then will I make my judgement on KA.

This is in a court of law. We don't have to prove things beyond a reasonable doubt
Kim said they were going to go after Missouri kids. Kids that were close. Kids that we had a connection too. All of those apply to Sneed. He's at a bare minimum top 150 player. And the reason we hire Tate was to have a good shot at some of these equals players coming out of St. Louis. You can say that and it was all the Eagles players but Sneed, but that doesn't really make much sense.
Sneed wasn't a make or break recruit. Porter may be. And Kim won't succeed or fail based on Sneed. But I won't have to address nonsense about our basketball program if nonsense isn't posted.

Just giving a different perspective.
There are probably 8-10 NBA prospects that currently attend MO high schools. Sure it would be fun to get them, but if the coaches find someone else that they like better I am ok as long as they put a good product on the floor.

Or even if they pass on us, it's not the end of the world. Let's just not pretend that it's always the coaches deciding to pass on them.

Here's what I don't get. KA has been here 1 year. He has won 8 games. But apparently he's to get a free pass from being questioned on missing out on an in state kid whether it is Sneed or whether it is Tatum.
GP has been here much longer, has actually had success and I question the staff missing out on guys like Ofodile and Hentges. It doesn't mean that GP should be fired and no one is saying KA should be fired for not getting Sneed. It's like denying Pujols ever struck out. They're going to fail from time to time it's just a matter of do they succeed enough to offset the failures.

I think it's more the idea that it's possible the coaches cooled on him, which you don't seem to think is a possibility.

That was directed towards 808. I think you guys might be pleasantly surprised by this years team. I also think winning will cure a lot of the recruiting issues we are facing. Players don't want to come to a program whose fans are screaming for a change already after 1 year. I think where some have a disconnect is that basketball teams can change greatly from year to year. SLU is a pretty solid local example last year. They had no experience, similar to us and were terrible. It happens all the time. The elite programs get the elite players that can help right away. Everyone else needs to be patient. I don't think Tyler Cook has a huge impact right away, but give him a couple years and he'll be a great player.

I think what 808 is saying is that he's taking KA at his word that Sneed was exactly the type of player that he described pursuing. So either KA was full of bunk when he gave that line and KA cooled on him or KA didn't cool on him in which case it's still not a good thing that we couldn't make a cut, much less get a commit.

I hope you're right about this year. Lord knows I will root for them to win. I think most people do. But if it's bad, just call it bad. Don't justify why it was bad. There is no justification for 8 wins for example. And yes, there are more to blame than KA. The players. The fans. The AD. Prior coaches. Plenty.

Both story lines are correct. The staff missed on Sneed months ago when he indicated he was not interested. The news this week was not a surprise. Since the staff knew Sneed was not interested they started recruiting him less and others harder. This has been known for some time.

It's a possibility. It's also a possibility that I will spontaneously combust tonight in my sleep.
Recruiting is a sales game. You don't get all yeses. You don't win them all. I'm working 40 deals right now and if I land 15 of them I'll be ecstatic. It's not the end of the world that we didn't get Sneed. You don't get them all. But you don't close more sales by pretending the ones you don't close you didn't want in the first place.

Dumbest argument made on sports forums.
You think our 9 wins or our grumbling fans has a bigger impact on the perception of a program? I'll give you two guesses.

Should work out great for McCaffrey.

I'm not really talking about sports forums, more about perceptions within a fan base that do carry weight with how recruits perceive a program. Keep thinking you know everything though.

Any wing that is taken in this class is going to be behind 2 top 100 level recruits from the 2 previous classes. In Walton & Wright. Just seems that unless 1 of those 2 guys transfer any recruit would have a hard time getting much playing time until their junior year.
Just seems weird to go after another wing unless the coaches don't have faith in one or either of those guys.
