Pitching was sharp. Offense was helped by a bunch of walks, and some misplays by Miami.

Misner is a beast

Misner Update | He's reached base in 17-of-22 plate appearances this season. Two 2Bs
One 3B
Two HRs
Seven Rs
Seven RBI :????????

Watch for Mark Vierling. He is the son of a good friend of mine. His brother Matt plays at Notre Dame and was drafted by the Cardinals. My friend said Mark is probably better than Matt.

I like Misner, I think he's going to be a stud. I did some amateur park factor research last year (that spreadsheet is now gone, so I can't quote it exactly), but last year he was one of the better players in the SEC when you account for Mizzou's park being much more pitcher friendly than hitter friendly.

Coached against Misner when he was in High School. He is very good. Kid just can flat play. Watched last night(until the 7th). Team didn't hit the best, but had very good at bats. Sharp was very sharp!

Never been a college baseball guy, but last year's 796 game winning streak got me interested. Never cared for Tim Jameison, but I'm very optimistic about Bieser.

This result is adding to my intrigue

Whipping a top 25 team on the road like that is pretty damn impressive.

Time will tell. Part of me likes where Bieser is going. Part of me says it has just been more of the same with him. Split a weekend series 2-2 with Northeastern.

This team is going to get destroyed in conference play

Yeah, I was just looking at the schedule and looking at last year. Miami was a good win but last year, we finished 36-23 after starting the season 20-1. From that point forward (conference and non-con) we then played 16-22. I suspect that we'll be closer to 12-6 or 11-7 going into conference play. Probably means this team tops out somewhere around 25 wins for the season.

My thoughts:

@LSU 0-3
MSU 2-1 They won 40 games last year but lost their head coach and have struggled this year.
@Aub 1-2 They're off to a hot start against nobodies
Bama 2-1 Had to find some place to be a homer. Might be here.
@UF 0-3 They did just lose to Miami but also beat them twice (and the weekend series against UF might have something to do with why they overlooked Mizzou in a midweek game)
Vandy 1-2 Might be the homer in me again predicting 1 win here.
@UK 1-2 If it were in COMO I'd probably still say 1-2
UGA 2-1 If we find a 3rd weekend starter, might be able to sneak a sweep here
@SC 1-2 I keep waiting for them to return to form. If they don't, might go 2-1 here. Seems games with SC are picking up more intensity than Arky.
UT 2-1 Last series of the year

12-18

I really like some of the individual players (Misner, Sikemma) but I just don't think we have enough of either side of the game to finish as well as last year.

Pitching probably depends on if Bieser ever decides to start Sikemma instead of using him as a constant clean up guy. The kid is plain nasty.

I really like Misner too but overall, we only have 4 guys hitting over .300 (5 if you count Misner's .296). This is at a time when numbers should be artificially inflated. If we continue like this before conference play, we may only have 1 player over .300 after conference play.

Keep an eye out for Vierling. He's had some big games lately.
