Through two games it looks like the hire is working out real well. We haven't really played anybody of course, but hardly anyone else has either.

Our Total D (#1 in conference) is about 60 yards better than the next best team. Our YPP against (#1 in conference) is a full 1.5 yards better than the next best team which is a big gap. 25 TFLs is also #1 in the conference.

Brothers has been the best LB in the country, but also consider we have been doing this with an inexperienced DL and an offense that has been off more than on.

Odom had a reputation of being one of the top play callers in the country coming in and it certainly appears he has a knack for pressing the right buttons. I can't recall many times, if any, where we have been in the wrong defensive set resulting in a big play.

Good points. He changed packages all over the place against Arky State and most were pretty damn effective. It will be interesting to see how things play out when we start going up against some of the better offenses in the SEC.

He even ran a 3-3-4 against ASU, resulting in an incompletion

need to take a closer look at the replay, Morrison keeps saying the 30 is just a nickel with a DE standing up like a LB, maybe that's true but I think there is a bit more to it than that. Not that our media children are anything like experts on football.

also in retrospect of a 2 game season, the offense stinking may have been the best thing to happen to our young defensive line. Getting tons of rotations out there is probably exactly what they needed, while Pinkel will bemoan "4 true freshman DL's on the field at one time", it may be the exact opposite in that getting these guys all snaps could more than pay off down the road this year.

It's also guaranteed the scholarship for Fatony was one of the best ones spent.

What I liked to see is our corners up on the line of scrimmage instead of playing 5 yard cushions all the time. I just hope they match up ok with the better wide outs in the conference.

This times 10, when you have a dominant defensive line you play press coverage so they can't quick pass.

I don't know who the Rams fans here are, but I almost threw something at my TV on Sunday. They were playing 10-15 yards off the receivers, mind blowing.

in case you missed it 3+3+4=10, not 11. That is what made the formation so interesting.

Best D in the conference and we only play 10 on that side of the ball.....the GOAT

heres what morrison came up w/ today:

dline snap counts

I just listened to his podcast too and he was concerned that the line could get any pass rush w/out Harris on the field. I'm not sure what he's watching, Brady, Frazier and Howard are all pass rush beasts and we could pull the shirt from another freshman, Jacobs and get another one going.

Dline is a position where a great athlete can have an impact immediately, so it's not really a surprise. It also isn't a surprise that Pinkel gets "bothered" by the thought of a lot of freshman on the field.

And yea TBJ didn't get on the field in time for the one play, not really much of a concern compared to the disaster that is coming from the offense right now.

Either way Odom is doing a smash job of taking the same players Stec had and a bunch of new linemen and making it look like a remarkable and somewhat new defense.

That was something we saw way too much of in the SEC title game last year.CB's playing too far off the line of scrimmage, and Alabama's WR's eating the secondary alive underneath.I kept waiting for Steckel to make an adjustment, but it never happened.
