Just some snippets. Gonna try to not be unduly harsh on the kid. I said he didn't lose the game for us but he also just isn't good. Backing off of that and pulling for this kid to finish strong.

quote:

Gabe DeArmond ?@GabeDeArmond 35m
Baggett refused to blame snap or hold. Said he should make that kick "if the ball was laying on the ground."

Mizzou kicker Andrew Baggett handling spotlight admirably today. Showing some humor. No excuses.

quote:

Gabe DeArmond ?@GabeDeArmond 37m
Asked to walk through what happened on final kick in double OT Andrew Baggett said: "I missed. I dont know if you guys saw that or not."

quote:

Pete Scantlebury ?@PeteScantlebury 42m
Baggett on the Twitter: "No one's comment will ever make me feel worse than I did on that field." Said positive comments were more abundant.

Mizzou kicker Andrew Baggett insists he got a lot more positive feedback from fans than the negative stuff from lowlifes. (My term not his)

I"m sure he's right - no one can make him feel any worse than he already did himself. I feel bad for him. He choked on the biggest of stages. Hope he can bounce back, and that we find a fantastic kicker to offer a scholarship.

Made me laugh. Seems like he's handling it about as well as one could.

He didn't lose the game anyway. He surely didn't help win it, but nobody can put it all on him.

Not just his teammates but former players have had his back all week. Been neat to see.

Nah, it was a group effort for sure. No one person can be completely responsible for such an epic fail.

Glad to see he's taking it in stride though.

How come I'm having visions of him out there with the lights on at midnight kicking till his leg falls off. I exaggerate, but I bet this kid is putting in as much work as humanly possible to correct things. Hope he's getting the snapper and holder to put in extra work as well because that wasn't the first time the laces were out.

If anyone lost that game it is the coach who does the defensive calls. 4th and goal at the 15 in overtime and you do not have 8 players in the end zone?!?!?!

Man defense is not the defensive play call for that play

Agreed. Our defensive play calling is really questionable at times. On the other hand, if it had worked, it would be a genius call.

That's cool that he's handling it well..

But he's a head case. Guy stumbled while taking his back steps at Georgia and missed the extra point.

He has a decent personality, awesome, still a huge liability every time he kicks, including extra points.

I'm with you, Sleepy. We need to find a good scholarship kicker.

It was bigger than him, which has been discussed to death since the end of the game.

I'm glad I read the rest of the stuff about the team coming around him and the whole family atmosphere thing. Seems like that's a good thing considering what could have happened afterwards.

True sons come in different shapes and sizes. I just think this is one more form. He's getting slammed by some on twitter. Threats being made. National writers/bloggers/whatevers trying to make Missouri out to be a lousy place. And his response:

quote:

He also showed more perspective than many journalists, taking the negative comments on Twitter in stride. Instead of turning it into an indictment on an entire fan base, Baggett turned to the positive.

"First, I need to say that there are twenty-fold more positive comments from Mizzou fans," Baggett said. "Anybody saying Mizzou fans are terrible, it's absolutely not true. There is way more -- I'm still getting stuff today, it's two days later, of positive comments.

Have to make that kick, but do hope it doesn't ruin his life/career + no guarantee of a win even if he makes it, however, josey nailed it - how they ended up in man on 4th and 15 is beyond belief.

Personally prefer it to the smileys that Franklin sent via twitter last year.

I'd like to applaud the whole Mizzou community for all of the support. Now it's time to move forward! On to Tennessee!
