You think a 125 year old rivalry started with a trade that occurred in the mid-60s?

Mizzou and Arkansas weren't the best of friends to begin with but I feel this rivalry could use a spark. Both teams being down doesn't provide that spark

True. Its hard to get fired up for a game when you are going in happy that your head coach is going to get canned. Our basketball teams don't like each other. That's pretty much it. It will take time.

Though I do encourage you to keep trolling by calling us Ar-Kansas. It doesn't get under our skin mind you, but we do find it funny and after this season we could use a laugh.

Archaic Arkansas state law makes it illegal to call Arkansas, Ar-kansas

It certainly fanned the flames.

Jimmy Dykes tried to create one when Anderson and Arkansas visited Mizzou Arena in 2013.

Semantics aside, the point I’m trying to make is, we need some sort of controversy with Arkansas to fire up a rivalry.
If I had known you were going to miss the point of the entire conversation, I would have used other examples. I just figured an intelligent person like yourself would be able to “get it”.....without me having to go back in history and only pulling out specifics, relevant to this particular topic, so that you and others wouldn’t get confused.
My bad!

If Mizzou's best basketball coach since Norm leaving under the cover of darkness to coach there didn't do it (and while it's nice to beat Anderson I sure as heck cared a whole lot more about Mizzou beating ISU this year), I'm not sure anything will.

I always figured Anderson would end up at Arky since he coached there under Nolan Richardson for so long. I didn’t particularly appreciate the way he did it, but didn’t expect much more from him either.

Beisel tried to do it last year but Arky didn't bite.

Yeah, he tried. I imagine Arky would like to see him on the field a little more Friday, than he has most of the year.
I remember when he signed with Mizzou. I watched him play in HS once, and he was a hard hitting animal. But the speed difference from HS to D1 I think was his biggest downfall.

It’s different for me. I grew up a mile from Arkansas, went to college in Arkansas, and have in-laws that graduated from Arkansas. Almost all of them talk down about Mizzou Sports. It was really bad in the early 90’s when the Hogs beat Mizzou by around 40 or more in basketball.

I have never liked the University Arkansas and will never support any of their sports. I like the state just not the University.

It is close to Kansas for me

What made my dislike for UA even worse was during the 03 Independence Bowl. I ordered 8 tickets to sit on the Mizzou side and ended up sitting on the Hog side surrounded by hog fans and had to listen to that Woo Pig Soo shite while Mizzou played like shite.

I was glad they sold beer during the game

I get your point. And you apparently don’t understand Arkansas will always have bigger rivals in LSU and Texas A&M. And I also doubt some controversy is going to fan the flames. Thanks for playing.

Arkansas doesn't have true "one-on-one" rival and probably never will. I'd put Ole Miss above TAMU as far as hate, but I am young enough to have started school at Arkansas when it was already solidly SEC. Plus, Arkansas/Ole Miss goes way back. We've played every year since 1982 or so.

Another reason it's harder to care about playing TAMU again is the game being in DFW. It feels less like A&M is even in the league to me, because I never see their fans in Fayetteville for anything.
