I've always seen us as a basketball school, but that is just my viewpoint. The last 10 years have been successful in football, does that change our "school" status?

Mizzou has had eras of success in both sports.

So both? But I lean football.

Football has been really carrying the day the last decade plus. We're not elite at either, but should be really good at both. I told all of our SEC brethren that beat their chest about football and said "Basket what?" that there is no reason a school can't be good at both. Especially with the kind of money teams are raking in.

Over the last 40 years it's been basketball. 20 plus straight years in the NCAA tournament

We are a football school. There are very few true basketball schools. Think UK, ku, Duke, IU, UNC etc

We should be good at both. But football is carrying it right now, and that isn't likely to change in this conference. That's where the money is, most of it anyway.

When did we go to the NCAA tournament for 20 straight years?

Typically depends upon your age. (warning: generalization ahead)

If you started following MU in the 60s or 70s then MU has always been a football school.

If you started following MU in the 80s or 90s then MU has always been a basketball school.

If you started following MU in the 00s or 10s then MU is a football school.

I think at this point we are solidly a football school. Basketball appears to have taken a clear backseat.

Probably pretty fair assessment in a general sense.

My question would be, if I had 4 tickets to give away for free but you had to choose between going to Bama football game at Mizzou or Kentucky basketball game at Mizzou, which set of 4 tickets would you take?

Good question! I'd take the basketball.

Both of those should be pretty easy to give away. The inverse would probably be a better question.

We can't get anyone to go to hoops games though...

I'd go to football, but that has more to do with the state of the programs than anything else. If we are in the top 10 in both I'd go to basketball, but would prefer it to be against KU.

MIZZOU BB has always been my favorite sport but i enjoy FB, I would like to see us be great in both, but to answer your question we are moving more and more to being a football school.

Since the women's team is still playing, we're a women's BB school.

Football. Mizzou has done good under Pinkel. Close to making it to the BCS Title game 2 times(yes I'm including the 2013 season because Mizzou was in the discussion leading up to the SECCG).

I quit think of us as a basketball school about 3 years ago. The move to the SEC has facilitated that. While I would like to see the basketball team succeed, I'm not nearly as focused on it.

This basketball season has gotten a shoulder shrug from me, if the football team performed on that level I'd be out on the ledge.

Potentially both. Mizzou had a horrible season in basketball. It happens. Arkansas is having a horrible season in baseball after years of elite teams.

The football team is solid and they just keep winning. The basketball team will bounce back sooner or later. It may take some time but Mizzou should be good in both sports.
