Nauta makes it 8.

Have to think Albert stays in school.

I don’t know.

I’ve seen him rated as high as the #1 TE on some sites.

I kind of doubt it, but would be great if he did

Looking at NFL team pages, there are several rated higher.

Kelce(3rd round) and Kittle(5th round) will change how TE’s are drafted.

Teams will not be looking for TE’s that are good at blocking and receiving. They will be looking at receiving first.

Gronk is good at both, but many teams will be looking for a extra receiver that can stretch the field by putting a slower LB or undersized safety in coverage.

Albert O fits what teams will be looking for.

Noah Fant, Kaden Smith, Irv Smith, CJ Conrad, Nauta, and Caleb Wilson check those boxes as well as Albert. If CJ Hockenson declares in the next couple of days as reported, it will be a log jam.

How did Coffman and Rucker never make it in the NFL?

Is Albert good enough as a route runner to be an early round pick?

To me that’s the biggest knock on him right now.

Maybe. Albert plays WEAK AF for his size though. Easily stripped and stopped in his tracks. He shouldn’t be outmuscled by DBs. He has been.

He has the feet and hips to get into the second level in the run game as an attached blocker. He is also solid in max protect as a pass blocker. That is what kept Coffman and Rucker from finding extended success in the league.

The question is does that ability separate him enough from 8 other players to justify coming out early.

How do you come back and look your teammates in the face after you sit out the last half of the year because you were afraid of getting hurt and moving down draft boards?

How do you know he wasn't legitimately injured?

He had his arm in a sling at the Arkansas game.

It was still in a sling during Liberty Bowl practices.

Isn't that a red flag?

There is a difference between in and to. He is arguably the best college TE ever and did nothing of note in the league.

Coffman had a reputation in the NFL of not being able to learn the playbook.

He couldn't handle the second level speed blocking his position either. He went to a division full of elite LBs when he got drafted.

I remember seeing him on Hard Knocks in his 1st year with the Bengals and the TE coach telling him that you need to learn how to block, because you came from that Mickey Mouse gadget offense from Mizzou that won't work in the NFL.

Anyone from the Bengals criticizing anyone is laughable.
