Lefty, then I assume you attended the game in Columbia??
Yes I did! I went on Friday in the rain with my brother and he is an alumni.

Because the BBall program saw a 70% growth in revenue. They sold $5.1 million in tickets. Projections justified his salary.
Do you think they are going to sell 70% more FB tickets next year?
So we should just let Barry Odom go and then find a coach that may not be as good as Odom have done. You tel;ling me there is a coach that will come to Missouri for the same amount of money that Odom is getting right now!?

He's not getting a 1 million dollar raise for going 8-4 (4-4) and finishing 5th in his division.
He had a shot at that and they went down with USC/UK.
He got his team to finish 4th in the division! South Carolina is currently ranked below Missouri. in overall ranking and in the division if it is tied at 4-4 you go by the overall record. So Missouri is 4th in the East.

Depends on what type of hire we made. We’d pay $3+M for a successful up and comer. A G5 coach moving up.
We’d pay a little more than that for a top OC or DC from a blue blood.
We’d pay $5M+ for a successful P5 coach.
If we hired a coordinator from a second tier school, we’d probably pay $2.5M.
Give me some names that would come to Missouri that fit the list you are showing here.

We are definitely going to be favored in the bowl game.

Just read that Louisville averaged 35k a home game. And their fan boards are 100% "NO" on Odom. They want Brohm or Day from Ohio State. So Odom would be moving to smaller crowds and worse fan support. That's gotta be making Sterk nervous.

I'm betting that Sterk is having conversations with BO about the future and has/will come up with a fair compensation package.
I doubt Sterk's "nervous" about the rumors of interested programs. It's just part of leveraging for more $$ and he's seen it before.
On the other hand, if he's a competent AD, he has a short list of possible candidates on hand for any coaching vacancies that he's "touched base with."
I can't imagine BO would go to Louisville.

Easier path to the playoff. And Louisville had better attendance when they were winning.

Interesting read. Bo does deserve a raise, but still think the best way to significantly increase that is still through incentives. The 3.5 mill seems to some to be the magical mark, fine, give him a fair raise and incentives to reach that. I want Bo to stay, but, and I'm not saying he is, if he and his agent tries to use strong arm tactics and freaking Louisville is their bargaining chip....well bye.

With Strong there they reached 50k. ACC attendance is no where near SEC averages.

Just joining in.
No one believe's Odom and Louisville talks are actually serious, right?
Odom is Matt Painter-ing us. Nothing wrong with that. You think we were going to go the next 50 years paying him almost nothing?

What’s the goal? Like I said 3.5M would make him the 9th highest paid coach in the SEC...for now anyway. So he’d just have to be the 9th best team in the SEC to justify that salary? He’s comfortably better than that now despite being the lowest paid coach. We’ve been getting a great bargain using that metric.
I don't think I'm explaining it clearly. If the goal is hitting .260 with 15 home runs, then I'm not paying $20m/year for that when I can pay league minimum and get those results. If I'm paying you $20m/year, I expect .290 and 30 home runs. I have no problem with someone paying that kind of money if you're getting the results.
In other words, I have no problem if Sterk decided to pay BO $3.5m but if BO thought the fan base was rough on him before, he just upped the ante. He better be winning the east on occasion and competing for it most years. No more losing BS games like the SC and UK games this year.

Every coach has a few losses like the Kentucky or SC games. And almost every coach has 1 of those per year.
With a raise that BO will get the goal needs to be 8-4 as the baseline. Compete for the east every 3-4 years. That’s really no different than now. The difference is a better contract for the HC will make it easier for him to get good assistants.

This is where the other disconnect comes in. Fans seem to conveniently ignore that every coach drops games they shouldn’t. Then we put every program that’s in our tier as a “should win”. Should we have won those games? Yes. Was that all on BO? Of course not. Do other coaches lose these games? Yes, every single one of them. aTm just paid Jimbo 70M guaranteed to go 8-4. We get hung up on this idea that there is a perfect coach who will always exceed expectations and never lose any game he should win. If we don’t get jibbed by the refs we are 10-2 and ranked in the top 10. Then what?
You’re also expecting top tier performance for below average money. That doesn’t make any sense. Expect it all you want, but giving the coach slightly below avg compensation just doesn’t seem like a real good reason.

S&P+ resume ranker (SOS vs results) has us 7th
IN THE COUNTRY
We’re paying our coach the lowest salary in the SEC. he’s been an incredible bargain.
