One day Mizzou fans will start holding Mizzou responsible and stop accepting mediocrity. The TRUTH hurts!

And what in the hell are we supposed to do exactly. The only thing fans can do is donate and show up to games. Admittedly, we don’t do a good job of that but there are like maybe 10 schools that have a realistic chance at a NC.

We have had this conversation multiple times. I have finally learned to accept mediocrity. Mizzou will never be Bama or Ohio St. but we can be Wisconsin at least.

Wisconsin ain’t pulling in five stars either.

These kids almost always go to blue bloods. It’s just the way it is. They have bigger and better everything and they are very good at cheating. It sucks but there is nothing level about the playing field.

To be successful here you have to win at least a handful of those recruiting battles, develop the hell out of the second tier guys, and unearth some “hidden gems”. You have to top all of that off with being a good game day coach. We’ll see if Drink can do that. Hopefully as more wins pile up the recruiting becomes easier, but probably not

I’ll say this, we have GOT to get some high upside WR on board. Even if we have to hit the transfer portal again. That is starting to concern me. It’s becoming a very important position in the modern game.

I wish Mizzou would incorporate some of Kentucky's approach to recruiting, using their northern SEC location as a plus for Ohio kids wanting to play in the SEC.

Iowa is an OL-TE factory. Why not try to tap into it?

At least you are trying to come up with some solutions.

Yes. For some reason a fair percentage of St. Louis kids don't want to go to Mizzou. There should be some kids from Iowa who'd love to go to an SEC school within reasonable driving distance. Get in there and target what Iowa produces.

I like Drink's idea of trying to recruit cities with direct flights to Columbia, but practically speaking trying to snag kids within driving distance makes even more sense when possible.

Recruit Iowa for OLinemen and keep recruiting Texas for DLineman.

There’s no reason we can’t see that ungodly Iowa TE talent.

Kittle goes in the first round if he were on a pass first team.

Drink should definitely poach the talent they look at for trench play and TEs.

Well, we have two 4* recruits from Indiana this cycle so maybe Drink agrees

Drinkwitz was recruiting in the eastern states when he was OC and HC and that makes sense to continue and there are some better players than what some Missouri players and he is not familar with Missouri and that will take time to evaluate and decide which is better fit for his system.

Of all the positions of need for the team TE would have been pretty low on the list.

Illinois and Indiana, too. Indy is only 4 hours.

Because Iowa kids are dug in like ticks. They worship Iowa. And those few that leak out go to Nebraska. The Iowa/Nebraska allegiance can easily match any SEC allegiance. Most Mizzou fans don't remember the Hoch Brothers but there are still newspaper articles about them leaving Iowa to play at Mizzou.

They were both good too.

We have our own farm boys here and I’m not sure we (or anybody else) pay much attention to that area. Maybe it’s for good reason, but I’d bet there are a few guys each year that can play SEC ball coming from these areas.

Drinkwitz is in his first year with the COVID-19 going around. Give the HC time to start with full Spring and do other things that shall help. He is better than Odom as a HC by the way he is coaching so far. There is no magic wand. Look at Tennessee and South Carolina and Kentucky! We can be better than them and get a jump to be in 3td in the east and then build up from there. Defense is still a problem. This is his first year and he didn't get any spring games and with all the limit time to get football going. Same for recruiting. He has been a HC for only 1 year and half and at the SEC level less than one year. I am very happy with the way he has done so far. It will take a couple of years in recruiting to get his players and know what the SEC teams are like and then game planned for next year and make any changes with training and coaching and schemes. Give Drinkwitz time. Odom was given 4 years and he failed. Went backwards and the recruiting was not better. LSU isn't that good right now and they have by far better players. That was a huge win for Missouri.

This Johnson kid is a track sprinter too. He has that outside "take the top off the defense" speed we really are missing. Iowa is in a shaky place with AA recruits. Mizzou is still close to home, and we have a much better QB. I think Drink could pull it off.
