Ross is hurt so Mizzou will go into spring practice with only 2 Safteys.

That's right. I really don't think they have much of a choice with Hilton. I thought he was our best offensive weapon and played with a lot of heart last year, but man we need him on D too. Maybe he can go both ways?!?!?

quote:

CB: Penton, Cheadle, Gibson and Hines. Nothing beyond the 2 deep if someone gets hurt other than freshman Warren or one of the true freshmen coming in.

Also have Stribling and Warren here. So 6 scholarship players, plus the incoming freshman. I think that's fine, but I would not be opposed to moving Wingo back if we needed to.

quote:

S: Wilson, Sherrills and Ross. Don't even have a 2 deep unless you include moving Perkins to S. After that it's only the incoming guys.

Ross is out for at least the spring and he's never been able to stay healthy. Probably why they are after another JUCO safety along with Taylor. For the spring we only have Sherrills, Wilson and Perkins. I'd like to move Doherty here but he want participate in spring ball anyway, so it's definitely an issue.

He committed to Richt, and does not fit into the new staff's vision. Georgia's new staff is reportedly going in a "bigger is better direction, and this 308 lb. kid is not big enough. UGA recently got commits from a 330-lb. and a 345-lb. kid.
I was curious if we would have a chance to talk with this kid. He's 6'4", you would think he could add more good weight to a frame like that.

Ohio State is trying to steal Camp's OV this weekend.

LINK

"and the Buckeyes are going to have to convince him to come to Ohio next weekend instead of going to Missouri, where that final official is currently scheduled for.

What makes Missouri appealing, or at least part of the puzzle, is that Chris Wilson, the Tigers' new defensive line coach, was a Trojans' assistant coach and was recruiting Camp while he was at USC. "

Taking 3 RBs in this class including 2 JUCO players says a lot about what the staff thinks of the returning backs.
I would have thought that Mizzou would target a few more WRs. Either the addition of Smith & JJ plus another year of experience makes the staff think they have the ability to be good, or Black was the only worthy WR that BO recruited that returned interest.

Ole Miss thinks Newman will flip.

LINK

Royce Newman, Offensive tackle, Nashville Community (Ill.)

In lead: Ole Miss

Up next: Missouri (Jan. 29)

Buzz: The Rebels have been the hot name to land the 6-foot-7, 250-pound offensive tackle for several weeks. Newman, a Missouri commit, took his official visit to Ole Miss this weekend but didn't flip his commitment while in Oxford. Sources close to the recruitment remain confident that Ole Miss will be the school Newman signs with, and if he cancels his visit to Missouri on Jan. 29, all bets may be off for the Tigers. Coaches from Ole Miss will visit Newman this week, who they hope to make the fourth and final offensive tackle in the Rebels' 2016 class.

If we get Crawford, I have a feeling there will be some RB processing.

I think we keep Newman, but that's just based on the little I've read online. Also, a bunch of Mizzou coaches started following former Michigan 4* commit Erik Swenson, and coaches are in Atlanta today for an in home with 4* OG Aaron Dowdell and hopefully set up an OV for this weekend.

I didn't see anyone point it out, but Crockett's sparq score is threw the roof. I don't think it means much, but I kniw I saw some of the people who were up tre bryant's arse soley for that reason.

Leftwich had an amazing Sparq score as well. He never really figured out how to transfer that athleticism to the field in HS or college.

Leftwich - have to be able to catch the ball to be a successful receiver.

Newman didn't flip while he was on campus. I like our chances.

Also, 4* DT Camp will visit midweek instead of the weekend.

Per Gabes count we are at our cap limit of 85 between returners and commits. For each commit here on out someone is leaving or being processed.

Supposedly he will announce sometime soon, only visits he took were us and Arizona State, coaches feel good we will land him. Hopefully he's as good as we think he can be and stays healthy.

JUCO running back Justin Crawford has Mizzou as his #1 choice. That will be a good get, but I still would have liked to see a couple of wrs with some game.
