Stolen from TB...

quote:

Nate Howard will announce on Tuesday night

Said Mizzou coaches told him he was their #1 defensive end prospect (must mean Beckner Jr will be inside).

Said he was going to take in homes next two days and make his decision known Tuesday night.

Sounds like he still doesn't know which direction he's going.

Unless ke's pulling an Ezekiel to get the attention, I'd say Howard will announce for us.

No worries. Glad to hear about it for the baseball team though.

On the recruiting board, one of the UGA posters says that our in home went well with the Robinson kid last week and put us squarely in the mix. Poster says he works at the high school.

I'm sure going out of their way to make a visit work for everyone will help too. Will be happy if Howard commits. Won't lose any sleep if he doesn't if we can get a kid like this.

So we have 2 or 3 scholarships left?

I'll put it this way. With the 21 commits we already have, with the understanding that Strong is definitely going JUCO, we already have to have 2 guys that have to lose/give up their scholarship. We could take as many as many as 6 more before we hit 25 for the cycle since Owen and Cuellar count to last year. But for each additional player we add, it's one more player that has to lose/give up their scholarship.

Theres several walk on guys who got scholarships for last season that might not get them again this fall. I think Hunt, the long snapper, and one of the TE's got a scholarship last season. I could be totally wrong too.

Per 247, we landed the #2 SDE, #3 RB, #5 OT and #16 OT.

QB(5) - Berk/Mauk/Printz/Zanders/Lock
RB(8) - Hansbrough/Hunt/Steward/Witter/Walters/Abbington/Doherty/Williams/Strong(Didn't add him to the #)
WR(11) - Leftwich/Moore/Brown/Blair/DiLosa/Richard/Floyd/Hall/Johnson/Martin/Smith
TE(3) - Culkin/Reese/Blanton
OL(18) - Boehm/Abeln/Hall/McGovern/McNulty/Williams/Bauer/Pendleton/Chappell/Crawford/Rhodes/Adams/Bailey/Fairchild/Cuellar/Howell/Harris/Owen
DE(6) - Harris/Loud/Brady/Williams/McWilliams/Frazier
DT(6) - Brantley/Augusta/Hatley/Winston/Logan/Jacobs
LB(10) - Scherer/Beisel/Brothers/Green/Newsom/Burkett/Jones/Lee/Winters/Agbamisere
DB(17) - Browning/Simon/Ward/Rupert/Sherrils/Wilson/Ross/Johnson/Dennis/Penton/Gibson/Cheadle/Stribling/Wingo/Hilton/Warren/Perkins
ST(3) - Baggett/Hurrell/Fatony

So not counting Strong, we have 87 scholarship players next year. 2 from that list already have to go. Hunt? Hurrel? Ward? Who knows.

Can we all cast a vote like survivor?

I don't think I'm gonna be casting any votes on guys who I want to see gone after they've bled for the Tigers. I'll let the staff do that.

The other alternative is that of those 87 guys, maybe the staff knows a couple of the current commits aren't likely to qualify, effectively taking that number down to 85 already. Or maybe they know of a couple that have already expressed an intention to transfer.

My most likely would be guys that haven't really broke into PT and are seniors to be. All of which could graduate and play immediately somewhere else. So 1 of the M. Halls, Hunt, Green, & Johnson.
Then maybe a QB to transfer.

OSU offered an instate 3* DT today who's currently committed to UK and 247 flipped all their crystal balls on him to OSU. Hope that means the TBJ visit didn't go great.

Is Berkstresser a possible transfer out?

And when does this new four year guaranteed scholarship rule just voted on kick in?

From what I understand it will be significantly (or at least somewhat) harder to process players. True?

Hunt and Hurrel won't be on scholarship next year. We'll have some guys transfer, and a couple other guys won't qualify.

It'll work out. The coaches know the numbers.

If you look at GG Robinson's twitter it's a lot of tweets about how awesome next year at Louisville will be. He's on a OV at Mizzou right now, I'd say he's not coming here.

TD Moton is also tweeting a lot about MSU. He just left Mizzou this morning. I'd scratch those two off the list. On to Hawkins for that other DT spot I'd think.

Berk ain't going no where. He reminds me of Chase Patton in ways. Accepted his role and is happy to be a True Son.

If any QB goes, it will be Printz or Zanders.
