Yeah. That's what I figured.
I read a good article recently about how Oregon did it and should have posted it here for reaction. They gave a lot of credit to Phil Knight and his personal vision / determination to make it happen through funding and the Nike branding. Missouri would have to do it differently than the sugar daddy route, and I'd love to hear what everyone here thinks it would take.
Honestly, Pinkel deserves huge props for laying a helluva foundation. And I think he's improving as a game coach. shite, he stole the Citrus Bowl by creating his own momentum with his special team gambles when his offense was floundering. I love it!

Okie state and T Bone Pickens tried the sugar daddy route to no avail. Brightwell is a 3 star which is why I thought we had a shot. We still can't cherry pick 3 star players. But in the end the class will be good it just won't ever be easy.

We have several 3* ;)
Not going to get them all man. Sounds like we are still in on a few good LBs.

Honestly, I think they're doing it the only way they can. Lacking a sugar daddy with the vision- Knight at Oregon, or that dude at OSU I don't ever mention by name in posts just on the principle that I think he's a major douche("Missouri? No one cares about Missouri.")-all they can do is keep winning enough to always be in or around the national conversation. The move to the SEC helped boost our visibility, and then winning the East has bumped that up a little further. It's been incremental and step by step with GP, but that's GP's way. They are knocking at the door to bigger things, including in recruiting. Gotta get over the CCG hump to go there though.

I don't think you can use the player's bios to claim GP pays any attention to the star rankings. Just because the sports information dept. digs up whatever glowing thing they can find to make the kid look as good as they can to the fans doesn't indicate to me whatsoever that the staff pays attention to that when recruiting.
I'm not saying he relies on them in determining who to offer, but I think it's a bit naive to buy into the fact he's not aware. In fact, I'd be a bit disappointed if the guy who's supposed to be on top of everything when it comes to the players he wants or has doesn't know this basic information.

I think its more likely that he doesn't allow a low star ranking to discourage his staff if he thinks the recruit grades out for the program. But I'm guessing any 5 star player grades out positively for them.

Reedus, What ever happened with Stepfawn Hughes?
Posted on 1/6/15 at 2:17 pm to surgicalvenom
That's a good question. Hadn't even thought of him since he didn't make it here. Another one I think of once in a while (not often) and wonder what happened to him was I think his name is Brandon Hannah. Went to Chaminade about the time Bradley Beal was there.

Stepfawn had a kid. Last I saw on his twitter he was working to support the baby. Doesn't look like he went to juco or anything.

Had a back injury that ended his career.

This is why all Mizzou fans should have been rooting for Bama. Thankfully the fool doesn't know it's a troll account. I'm sure TB is hearing it regardless though.

We are making progress like Oregon did- one year at a time.

to be honest, he couldn't have gotten much worse as a "game coach", not much of a place to go but up. Yea 2 of the 3 trick play gambles paid off, now I'm curious though, do you think if they had failed we would have lost the game?
