I don't know if this is who they are referring to. This was posted on TB earlier today. The article talks about his interest in Mizzou. Doesn't say anything about our interest in him that I saw.

I don't know that it makes a helluva lot of difference, but we've been replaced by Vanderbilt as to who Dominique Booth is "warmer" about. Used to be MU and UT, now UT and Vandy. I don't know how much stock to put in those things, but I saw that same pattern with Bauer.

Also, I think I missed that Wrench committed to kU.

There is some rumbling going on that this whole deal with Pinkels job being unstable is starting to hurt the recruiting. PM mentioned that through reliable sources, the Bauer commitment to OM, was in large portion due to the percepted instability of Mizzou's FB program via Pinkels uncertainty of whether he will retain his job next season. They also mentioned they do not see Bauer changing his commit over to Mizzou. For what it's worth.
Booth may be in the same boat as you have said.

Can we blame them?
Team needs to get off to a good start on the field, and end up with a winning record to secure Pinkels job, that alone won't pick up recruiting, but 8 wins will get things rolling in the right direction.
Kids are going into homes of coaches with full families, Pinkel is now a nearly 65 year old bachelor, yet his tag line has been 'family'. Do you all see how this is like putting a square cube into a round hole? It doesn't fit, nor should it, last seasons performance on the field is one thing, but it's this issue that is really going to be hard to overcome.

That thread pissed me off. People on there blaming fans for Pinkel being on the hot seat.

Not really.

Exactly. It's a start though. Then you have to consider how many more seasons does he have in him? That begins to factor in as much as being on the hotseat.

Can't argue this. It's a fact. He may fool some of the parents and kids some of the time but not all of them all the time. There is also the good ol' DWI deal also that makes a bad impression.

I don't want to be overdramatic about it, but aren't we pretty screwed then until after 2015. Even if Mizzou plays well next year, aren't we in the same situation with an uncertain future at HC because Pinkel's contract is up in 2015 and as I recall he wasn't going to continue beyond that. So the 2014 class is taking a hit because of uncertainty. The class of 2015 will take a hit because recruits won't know who they're going to play for.
Maybe Alden should have pulled the trigger whether Pinkel truly deserved it or not based on the team's performance. At least the HC position wouldn't have any uncertainty moving forward because you're not going to fire a new HC in the first 3 years and assuming they got the right guy, it would have created a buzz to carry over onto the recruiting trail. I dunno. Tough situation.

I think that Alden missed his opportunity to do it right when Pinkel got his DWI. Much like Arky did with the Patrino fiasco. Arkansas let him go, they suffered through an interm coach and then landed a decent replacement. Mizzou could have learned alittle something from Arky. JMO
I think this year there will be more going on than whether Pinkel keeps his job or not. They have a new OC that wants to be an HC. We will have to see what he does with the offense. He may become a candidate for the HC when Pinkel leaves. I say, a candidate. Not necessarily a lock for GP's replacement. But if he gets this offense going well, he'd be hard to let go.
Ive also heard recently that Hensons offense will spend about 40% under center. They are likening it to what Oklahoma runs offensively.

What scares me about the 40% under center is that we have a lot of botched snaps next year.

Hence the reason Henson is puting his best OL at center. He was also a center in long snap situations in HS from what I understand.
I think it's a great idea to run an offense under center like that. They can still run the true spread this year if they want. Mix in more under center snaps and you have an offense that is hard to prepare for.

There is not much security if you are a coach in the SEC. Look at Chisik at Auburn. Win a NC and 2 years later gone!!
If Freeze wins at Ole Miss he will not be there long. Ole Miss is more interested in the Grove and partying than they are actually winning. Freeze could be gone in 2 years if he can get 10 wins each of the next 2 years he could be at a school that will pay him much more and more committed to the football program. Texas??

Dude, no.
I suppose if a school like Texas offered, but it would take one of the premier elite programs to get him out of Ole Miss, that is pretty much an elite school as well, just sucked recently.
