He's a Cincinnati commit, but visited both Nebraska and Mizzou last weekend.

Gut from just reading different places. Definitely haven't read anything specific.

This is what I was thinking too.

I hope the staff is telling recruits they should lock up their spots because we're almost full.

I'm sure they are. Problem is, you tell someone like Ford and he'll be like "Oh yeah? Oh well. I still got Texas." I would think those kind of things work better with the recruits who aren't as heavily recruited.
Posted on 2/3/14 at 1:51 pm to reedus23
On the other hand though, he needs to know that the spot will be taken by somebody, if not him. They can't hold the spot until signing day if someone else wants it. On the other hand, we have no idea what some of these recruits have told staff either - Ford, Williams, Blair, etc.
Posted on 2/3/14 at 1:52 pm to reedus23
Im.sure most know where there going n already notified the staff
Posted on 2/3/14 at 1:55 pm to wstorie44
That's what I think too. There may be a signing day surprise or two, but I bet the staff has a very good idea who they have and who they don't.
Posted on 2/3/14 at 2:45 pm to semotruman
I think the staff already knows who will commit and who will wont. The biggest signing day commit in Mizzou history that I can think of was DGB. And I can tell you when I had a better contact through the station I got a text a few days before signing day that just said "we got him." These kids will inform someone their intentions before hand.

I figured the staff wasn't surprised. Excited, yes, but not surprised.
Here's a free article from PM...
National Signing Day is just two days away and there will be plenty of intrigue for Tiger fans. PowerMizzou.com takes a look at the players Missouri is still after who will make decisions between now and Wednesday.
2014 Signing Day Decisions
DeSean Blair - WR 6'4", 160 - Jacksonvilel (Fl.) Sandalwood
Missouri has been active on a number of wide receivers late in the process and Blair fits the mold of a taller target the Tigers like. He was in Columbia this past weekend after visiting Louisville and Nebraska. He said on Sunday that all three were equal and a decision would come in the next couple of days. Blair is currently a Louisville commitment.
Mizzou: 50%
Daniel Cage - DT 6'3", 275 - Cincinnat (Oh.) Winton Woods
Missouri does not yet have a defensive tackle in the class and Cage is one they've been after for quite some time. He has a top five of Louisville, Mizzou, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Illinois and has not tipped his hand as to a leader. Cage is expected to make his announcement on Wednesday.
Mizzou: 35%
Poona Ford - DT 6'1", 288 - Hilton Head (S.C.) Hilton Head
Ford is also a defensive tackle and has been one of the hotter names on the recruiting trail in recent weeks. The South Carolina product took a visit to Mizzou last weekend after trips to Texas and Purdue. The Longhorns have been thought to be in good shape since Ford committed to Louisville when Charlie Strong was the Cardinals' coach. He will make an announcement at 11:30 Wednesday morning on Twitter.
Mizzou: 30%
Rocel McWilliams - DE 6'3", 240 - Pensacola (Fl.) West Florida Tech
McWilliams has been committed to Missouri for months, but picked up a December offer from in-state Florida and took a visit to Gainesville. Since that and a trip to Columbia, McWilliams has stayed committed to the Tigers but said that a final decision would not come until signing day.
Mizzou: 60%
Sharieff Rhaheed - OLB 6'4", 215 - Fort Pierce (Fl.) Central
Rhaheed visited Mizzou back in October and has had the Tigers on his list for quite some time. His name seemed to drop off the radar for a bit, but he has a final four of Mizzou, Arkansas, Michigan State and Louisville. At this time, most expect him to sign with Bobby Petrino and the Cardinals. He will make an early announcement, around 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
Mizzou: 10%
Tavon Ross - ATH 6'1", 196 - Cochran (Ga.) Beckley County
Ross also committed to Mizzou months ago, but has picked up major interest in the last month. He took a visit to Miami and picked up an offer from Alabama, but Georgia is thought to be Mizzou's only real competition heading into signing day. Ross visited Missouri this past weekend and has been silent since.
Mizzou: 55%
Spencer Williams - DE 6'4", 230 - Jacksonville (Fl.) First Coast
Williams is a Cincinnati commitment, but visited Nebraska and Missouri in the last few days before the dead period. Like the rest, he has been quiet since those visits, but is expected to make a decision public at some point on Wednesday.
Mizzou: 60%

I'm sticking to my WAG, this pretty much says the same.
If I had to choose between Cage and Poona, I'd take Cage. But I'd take Poona out of just shear joy of a take away from the Horns.
I'd be surprised if we even send Sharieff Rhaheed an LOI. I think Arky has moved on too. I'll bet he's all Bobby, and the rest are just hats on the table.

Damn Semo...that writer isn't very optimistic on any of those guys, he wouldn't work for Bama, UGA or UT Rivals for long.
... He's not Disney enough.
Actually that's the 1st thing I've seen that made me even a 'lil optimistic about TR, even though he's never wavered & I'm still pretty sure he's y'alls...
Regardless of where he goes, he's a great kid & has handled his sudden rise in the rankings the right way with class & composure. Admirable traits to have no matter what your looking to get outta 4 years of College...
Good luck to you guys on TR & everyone else you're looking to land...

Cage is a tackle and Ford is a DE, right? Then yes, Cage first because we don't have a DT in this class and that really bothersr. But the happiness of taking someone away from Texas can't be underestimated.
I think your WAGay be right. And that would be awesome, keep building those ties in Florida and Georgia!

Thank you!!
And yes, no Mizzou writer is a sunshine pumper. They take the whole "journalism school" think very seriously, and strive for honesty and integrity.
I hope we keep Ross, he seems like a class kid. Just like Nate Brown. Best of luck to y'all on NSD, except with Ross!
Posted on 2/3/14 at 5:10 pm to semotruman
Cage and Ford are both DT's.
Posted on 2/3/14 at 5:17 pm to mosoblkcougar
Oops, my bad. Thought Ford was a DE. Then either way, if we get one of them we can't lose.
Posted on 2/3/14 at 5:22 pm to semotruman
Agreed, both are 4* on 247. Gabe doesn't seem confident we'll get either one though, but he did say it's hard to get info on out of state recruits. I just hope this NSD isn't a flop like the last 3 or 4 years where, besides DGB, no one picks us.
