Not sure how to best approach replying to that statement.

Well you are pretty much whining about things you find at most large 4 year universities.

Conversely, now I'm at State and I feel like a number. So many professors are aloof, unapproachable, or just downright strange, class sizes generally vary from 60-300 people, the quality of education I've received has taken a nose dive, I feel nickel and dimed at every turn ($115 parking decal).

Welcome to a major university.

I got into Arky, LSU, OM, and State. But congrats on getting into Oceaola County Sheriff's academy

But, RebelGator didn't make it into the Osceola Co. SO Academy. He's working a toll collection booth on the FL Turnpike at Wildwood.

Coming from an Ole Miss freshman who went through this decision last year. Choose Ole Miss.

Not saying those complaints couldn't be made for college in general, but I think I would have preferred a smaller school.

As you can see, I fully admit that the complaints I have could be applied to any school and that a smaller school would probably suite me better. Do you have a problem with smaller colleges? Just because the issues with large schools are common, does that mean we should ignore them? Considering the amount of money I've spent getting this degree, I think I have every right to complain.

I think it's important that people spend a lot of time considering which college they should go to and to not simply base that decision on which school has their favorite football team.

I'm not sure what department you are in, but this really wasn't the case for me. I had teachers take my whole class out to eat at Harvey's. Teachers had given me their house/cell number to call them anytime I had a question. Most of my teachers were very personable and approachable. Like I said, it probably varies from department to department on how personable they are. But what you described happens at pretty much all major universities. Seems like you should have thought this through more before you enrolled at State. I guess you could have enrolled at Mississippi College, had classes with 30 people, paid twice the tuition, and had no fun at all.

Welcome to most big state universities. You go to a school with 20,000+ students, you're going to be a face in the crowd. This is an exciting time in the kid's life. Why shite on the parade?

I've never been to MSU, but best of luck to you OP. College is what you make it, and what this guy is saying is true to an extent. If you want to connect with your professors and such, you're gonna have to reach out and make that effort yourself unless you go to some small liberal arts college or something.

Pretty obvious your Mississippi education failed you. Dumb is usually an adjective or a verb. It should not be used as a noun.
