Guys, guys, guys. Can't we just let the man have fun with his reverse-jinx?
Oh my gosh we beat the spread on a swac team!
A game into the season know one knew, nor should have been expected to know, just how bad Auburn was last season.
One Malcolm Johnson circus catch away from being right on the dot.
Watch that first half again, then come back to me.
Got nothing here other than they played a horrible, horrible game.

Okie State should be favored. They are one of the top picks to win the Big 12.
I can be optimistic for a few reasons. I like the match ups in the trenches. They don't play great D. I think we can run the ball and control the clock a bit.
In basketball the best thing to do against teams that run is to take your time on offense and slow the game down. We do not want to get into a passing fest with them. That plays to their strength.
We need to run the ball, avoid false starts, and pass just enough to keep 8 men out of the box. On defense, we need to bring enough pressure to create holding calls and make them keep a back in the backfield to help with the rush. If they can block us with their 5 interior guys, we are going to have a long, long night and a long, long season.

Last I checked, that line was down to 8 or 9 points...
By my calculations based on last year(when we obviously believe we should be better than that on both sides of the ball -- and I believe they should be worse), the spread should be somewhere around 6 @ 33-27 OK State...
That's taking their average score against their opponents' average allowed vs their average allowed and their opponent's average scored -- and doing the same for us...

Agreed. Even thought Northwestern beat us they were a very good Northwestern team, arguably the best Northwestern team ever! They will wreck the B1G this year with that spread option attack. We looked a hell of a lot better against them than we did against aTm, a school I feel was pretty similar in talent and scheme. That is the difference between Collins and Wilson. I like our chances now.

Hell fricking no. Northwestern didn't have any Luke Joekels, Johnny Manziels, Mike Evans, Ryan Swopes, or even Ben Frickin Malenas. Texas A&M was up and down a much much more talented team than NW was.

With the exception of JFF I feel that aTm and NW were very similar. Luke was highly praised for being the reason JFF was so good but I think Manziel made a lot of those plays on pure freak talent, and way outside the protection of his offensive line.
On a related note, if you were a DC how would you game plan for him this year knowing what he did last year. I would put the fastest guys on the team on the line of scrimmage, on the outsides, and blitz him every play. Hell I would have put Jameon on the line of scrimmage to try and nail his arse. I believe every DC in the SEC will have a bullseye on this kid this year and they will try their damndest to end his career every week.

A couple of months ago, many were pretty worried about baseball too...but this is a much higher baseball IQ board compared to most of our other boards.
