This feels like team board material. Maybe the team board wouldn't suck if we took this type of stuff over there for conversation.

The caliber of the guy State hired and Matt Luke are very different.

Far? Maybe beneath but not far. State has still only been to 10 CWS and doesn't have a title.

State fans, while we do probably have a top 15 Baseball history, way overrate the schools history.

Now the fan support and facilities are the best in the county.

But outside of Corbin, Schlossnagle and McDonnell, who in the country is at the level our fans think this program is at?

He did a great job as an assistant at UL and did okay at IU with less resources.

He is a great recruiter and that seems to be the focus of Cohen's hiring. We kept JG at hitting coach so overall I don't know why people are upset.

I think Lemonis will be a solid coach for us. I'd like to see us go big game hunting with a pitching coach, someone who focuses on developing power arms.

That seems sketchy to me personally. Of course the whole thing is sketchy. To me it seems more likely that one of two things happened: the postseason run messed it up, or Schlossnagle wanted the equivalent of Jimbo Fisher money in baseball terms.

I think this hire is certainly mixed for a lot of State fans.

Me personally. I'll see the staff he puts together but this kind of hire is just meh to me. Not terrible but honestly is it that much better than Henderson at this point? Honestly idk. I'm not advocating for Henderson. I just wanted the coach we hired to be better than the coach who just took us to the Final Four of the CWS. And honestly. Idk if Lemonis is.

He made 3 out of 4 regionals. Ok that's fine. But his Big Ten conference finishes are kind of startling considering the fact it's almost a stretch to consider the Big Ten "P5" for baseball in the first place.

Will he be successful here? Yes because every coach at Mississippi State since Paul Gregory has been. We still haven't had that coach that you can look back and say he was the GOAT. We don't have that. But we have had coaches who have taken advantage of the resources of this program and have made it to the CWS multiple times. I would predict Lemonis makes the CWS at some point. But idk if he was the best we could've done. Which makes me think like the other coaches before him, he will fall short and not win a Title.

Sorry for the long rant here but if this is true, this makes Cohen look really bad. Lemonis was much more attractive than this guy? Good lord the spin has begun I suppose.

I do not really like this hire and don't think he will take us to the level that we want to go.
