Really sucked it up against Zona. The play calling especially during 3rd downs was just awful. Coach called out that they didn’t have a good plan so I wonder if that was the nice way of saying “someone on the staff fricked up” or that nobody knows WTH they are doing.

Gave the players all the credit… what happens when the experienced players graduate and leave?

Rewatched the 2nd half this morning and good lord was it terrible.

Not trying to panic yet but it was not a good look when the whole world collectively agrees the play calling sucked arse.

LSU is going in dry if our D is on the field that long again.

Playcalling week 1 was balanced. I think after we ran the ball so easily 1st half we thought we could continue to do it on 3rd and 5 or less and they caught on to it and we didn’t adjust.

A simple screen or pass out into the flats would have corrected that. Hopefully a learning experience for them

We have a bunch of young coaches who are in over their head. No adjustments at all and horrible play calling. This has Moorhead 2.0 vibes all over it. It’s really a shame.

I don’t see that at all. Moorhead’s team were a mess and undisciplined

I saw a team that played hard and won and made few actual mistakes.

I saw coaches that admitted they made mistakes in game planning and play calling and are willing to learn from it and correct it.

Moorhead was arrogant and never did any of those things. Some of y’all need to chill you act like the world is ending. We are 2-0. It could be way worse

That's how I felt watching the 2nd half.

I'm a State fan. It's in the blood to be pessimistic 95% of the time. I thrive on it.

Yeah, 2-0 is 2-0 like 20 dollas is 20 dollas.

Nobody should be surprised. Yes we have a veteran team but Arnett is a new HC. He is going to have some more WTF moments this season. As he said in his postgame comments “ we won in spite of me.”
Hopefully as the season moves along he will grow into the job. Unfortunately, there is no substitute for experience.
Thankfully our veterans came through Saturday night.
We are 2-0 and that is all that matters.

All that said, offensively we are still trying to find an identity. I think we will continue to gel as the season progresses.

Night and Day difference. I liked JoMo but his teams had zero discipline and he did waste the 2018 talent we had.
Arnett is running a tight ship and we will continue to improve as the season moves along.

I like the fact he took blame

I was surprised by the penalty numbers
(In their defense Zona was holding our line like crazy and never got called)

I just hope they open up against LSU cause it seemed very vanilla and no effort on changing after drive after drive of being stuffed on 3rd and short.

Welp I know why we didn’t throw the ball against Arizona

Rogers can’t run this offense against quality defense.

Wright is our only hope to salvage season. With him we can beat the crappier SEC teams. If coaches stick to Will we will be lucky to win 6. And if they do stick with him they should be fired

Today was unacceptable. It’s not that we lost to LSU, it’s how awful the offense looked. Had we been competitive and put up 24-28 points and at least looked decent I’d accept the loss. But that was embarrassing and the refusal to bench Rogers at half while the game was still within reach and try something different was mind boggling.

State fans are patient and understanding. But blatant stupidity and unwillingness to change things when it wasn’t working is not acceptable. Leach would have benched Rogers with that performance. He played those who wanted to be out there. Arnett is scared to take him out because he has been our starter for years, but if you’re going to change the offense completely then you better play who fits it.

We returned too much talent to go 6-6 or worse. Arnett will be rebuilding next season no matter what but tanking this season won’t get him the good graces to build a team. He needs 8 wins to gain trust and patience after we lose these players because fans already doubt him due to inexperience. He doesn’t have the proven track record like a coach like Leach did that gives fans hope and confidence. He needs to turn this season around or we won’t back him. That means getting 3-4 SEC wins

He’s in over his head. We’re not going to get to 6 wins this season. I only see 3 wins left and one of those is a toss-up against Kentucky.

We needed OT luck to beat a horrible Pac12 school that turned it over 5 times. This is a bad looking group. This is starting to look like Croom level bad.

I think we can win 6-8 if we play Wright who fits the offense

Normally agree but Alabama, Auburn, Arky, Kentucky and OM all look shite too right now

What we could have done with Leach this season could have been special looking at how the rest of the league is.

This is a sad truth. RIP tPirate

At the same time, the timing of everything with the AD situation and Leach’s passing has a lot to do with it as well.

I posted it on tRant but we did what used to be the wise choice of hiring within to keep the players. Now with the portal, the better choice would’ve been to go after a big name coach to attract quality players. Commitment is dead in college football.

Look at Will Rogers… I love the guy and all he has done for us but he should’ve left when Arnett canned the offense. I say that for his sake and not ours. He deserves better for his last year. Instead he did the honorable thing and now it’s going to frick him (and us) over.

I don’t know why coach canned the offensive staff but this might go down as the single worst move in Mississippi State football. Everything that was built these past 15 years is being destroyed in one season.

This sucks

Before we hired Arnett I said no. Since then, it has only become more evident. He needs to go back to defense, new off. Coach, and new head coach, all needed. Big changes needed when this season ends, but sure it will go on for another two years………….

If he does then I wouldn’t blame him for hitting the portal.

At this point I’d take offering Merlins the job. Yeah he’s weird AF but I think he learned a lesson at UF. Maybe tell his wife to tone down the player interaction.

I can understand. I kept thinking I saw Moorehead roaming the sideline. Or maybe it was just the fact that moorehead took a good running team & tried to pass & barbay tok a passing team and made it run. Truth is, MSUas a team is SLOW. The lines don't control line of scrimage. Add in that the coaches seem unable to make adjustments, even at half time. This is largely the same team that went 9-4 last yeay & theuy will not win 6 this year. MSU hasn't had a good line since Mullen's left. Add poor recruiting to the list. Rodgers is a fair passer but a 5-year old could tackle himm.....if he doesn't dive into the ground 2 yards before the 1st down marker to keep from getting hit.
