I think Howland gets another year, but I am very disappointed so far. We have no real offensive threat inside other than put backs and garbage plays. Maybe we will bring somebody in who can score and the guys we have now will improve offensively over the next year. Currently, we just run around the perimeter looking for something. I'm not really sure what we're looking for since we don't shoot it very well from out there, but we're looking. I don't understand why we don't clear out more and let Peters and Weatherspoon (0) try to penetrate and create something.

Bottom line though, we should be better than Ole Miss in basketball. We've lost to them once and they beat FU yesterday. 2nd place in the state is unacceptable and if we don't see a winning record in conference play next year time to move on.

My 2 cents is we have 2 defenders in Ado and Holman and that's it. Everyone else wants to play street ball and score. We do not have a true leader on the floor although I think Holman is trying to be one. Peters is a head case. Datcher could be an enforcer but I see no coaching up of him to get him there. I think we need a younger head coach who has the patience and energy to work with these guys as well as all new assistants to get them to play as a team. Howland can recruit and put a team together but he and the staff either aren't getting through to the guys or are not putting in the effort to get through to them.

Until we fire George Brooks we will never have post guys perform up to par. He may be one of the worst post coaches I've ever seen.

I watched games were Howland just claps his hands and says " good job" when State is obviously struggling with turnovers are whatnot. He needs to put a fire under them. A talented roster without results is mind boggling. I hate comparing rosters and teams but Will Wade is doing more with a less talented roster. He got a tech and I would take that if Howland would take a tech. It would at least showed that he cared.

What pisses me off more than anything is that the Alabama Rivalry which was the Rivalry is gone. And we aren't doing anything to revitalize it. I 17ing hate our current culture.

All this off the court stuff and our current players mindset of making individual plays not team plays is costing us in SEC Play.

Honestly when we fired Stansbury, did you think that would be the last postseason you would see for almost a decade? Maybe even a decade?

I guess what I'm saying is I don't think we're on Alabama or Ole Miss's level. Again. If we lose to Vanderbilt on Tuesday, I'm done with Howland.

Another thing I've thought of. Seriously. I think Wade is better than Howland right now. That game is at the PMAC this year and it's the last conference game. Will be interesting to see where MSU and LSU are at that point. I would expect MSU to get blown out in that one when it's all said and done.

I agree. I'm low on Peters. I think he will probably transfer. We have the Weatherspoons, Holman, and Ado. But I don't see them run offensive sets. It's annoying. The talent is there, but if talent just doesn't want to work as a team then it is no different than Rick Ray's teams.

Part of me thinks Howland is a wash up has been and another part feels that Ray left the program in shambles and it may take a little longer to get us back good. Howland is recruiting good. We have improved this year. We beat Vandy handily today. I'm not giving up yet. NIT this year would be fine with me as it shows progress. I still support Howland

I still have no idea why we continually walk around on offense then settle for throwing up 22 footers as opposed to attacking the basket.

1) Teams run the zone against us, so we shoot 3's.
2) We don't shoot the 3 well, so teams run the zone against us.
3) Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

If we could be just half-arse from the 3, our record would be outstanding.

A zone doesn’t mean settling for threes if you know what you are doing. This is our third coach in a row whose teams look lost against a zone. It’s really getting old.

These collapses happen more often than not. I'd had enough of stainsbury after 8 years of superb talent and unable to do anything with it. the straw that broke the camel's back was in the NIT final four where he blew a 2nd half 18 point lead only to lose by a last second 3pointer from west Virginia. he had some great years, but enough was enough.

To add, we honestly don't have a great bench minus Lamar Peters.

The moment Feazell and Datcher hit the floor all hell breaks loose down low. They just aren't very good. Eli Wright is serviceable. So what you're seeing is our starts plus Peters take up a ton of minutes and by the end of the game they are out of gas. Hence teams running out on us late.

True. Ray left us with a pretty bare cupboard. Talent is better but we aren't deep yet. Howland needs an offensive minded assistant coach and to continue to recruit well and we will be fine

Ray left Howland with an upperclassmen heavy team and Q Weatherspoon. empty cupboard is nothing compared to what Ray inherited from Stans.

At least Ray is getting paid like a third of what Howland is getting paid with the same results. I don't see another conference game this team wins. They are that bad.

I've almost completely written off men's basketball this year. Outside of taking the kids to a couple of games it just isn't fun to watch. Part of that is due to team performance, the other is the game has changed and I don't enjoy it much. I made it through the Ray years without giving up, but it really has hit me the season.

On one hand I feel bad for the students who don't get the experience I had, on the other I look at the empty seats in the student section and say WTH....they've tried free pizza, some stupid student lounge where they could go get free food and play video games, and they give out about 50 t-shirts per game to them.

Back in my day, we spent 2 hours standing out in the cold so we could get a seat in the lower bowl for a game and the only thing we got was to watch some good hard-nosed basketball and scope out the cheerleaders. Defense, rebounding, offensive execution.... I miss it, and I'm not certain that it will ever come back. I think it is going to require taking a step back in recruiting to get players who are willing to buy in 100% to team effort to turn this thing around.

That has already graduated and moved on. You do realize those players aren't even here?

I'm not one to say Howland should be let off the hook, but damn I can see the reality of the situation. The depth of this team was already thin before Herard decided to transfer and he wasn't even really making an impact. He was garbage compared to last year. If Feazall and Datcher were at least halfway competent when they were on the floor we wouldn't be so bad. I'll continue to reiterate as long as George Brooks is on staff solely to recruit our presence in the paint will be sub-par. The guy is one of the worst big man coaches I've ever been around.
