there's no play calling in the world that can make a statue fit in a read option based offense.

Dont count on it

I heard Dak will be the QB...also saw Jones on 247 predict Dak to start.

Tyler has been taking all the first team snaps in practice, but I still have hope that #Dakattack will run train on the LSU defense.

I talked with two players today, and they seem to think that Mullen hasn't made up his mind on who will start this week.

my info came from a friend of one of the staff. Jones on 247 doesnt usually step out there unless he knows something- he's predicting Prescott also.

Common sense says Prescott

Just cant see Russell out there

Bottom line is our team is improving as a whole. We now know who are go to recievers are, we know who are strong Defensive players are (and we are balls deep on our D-line), our O-line can compete, we have a shite ton of RB's, and our secondary is playing up to the competition. We all know Dak is going to be Mullen's new Tebow but do we really know how much TR has improved? We didn't see enough from the Okie St. game to know plus the play calling was shite. My guess is he gets a shot but if things aren't productive quick then Dak goes in and that will be that.

TR has done nothing to lose the starting position. All we have seen was very poor play calling from the staff in the opening game and he still completed 63% of his passes.

We can't win this game without balance. The question is how do we get that balance. Do we rush to open up the passing, or pass to open up the rushing?

We have 2 QBs. One considered a rushing threat, but not a passing threat. One a passing threat but not considered a rushing threat.

We have some talent in the backfield. Let them do their jobs and help them with play calling. If TR is in there, and we need a option, then it's on him to do it. No excuses. His job. If we don't go stupid with play calling we can run.

If Dak is in, he has to complete passes. Bottom line. There is no excuses. He has to. If not, they will crowd the line before the end of the first quarter and it will be over.

With TR you have an arm and accuracy and backs able to run. A guy who has played in big games and mature. Has he grown from last year?

With Dak you have a rusher and that's about it right now. He's not consistent in making the the right option reads and not consistent in passing. Has all the tools, but just not ready.

Dak is a better passer than you give him credit for

explain to me what I have to gain by not given him credit? If he could, then all questions are answered and we have a top 10 team. Why would I not want that?

I fully believe he will be in the top of QBs in MSU history before it's all said and done. He's just not there yet.

It's weird to think about it that the two top QB's we have had have both had down moments in their careers here. I mean TR went 7-0 and then bombed finishing poorly in the egg bowl and the gator bowl. I remember Wayne Madkin doing so much and then people calling for his head too.

Like I said Dak is going to be great and can both run and pass. We haven't seen TR this season so I'm going to trust Mullen on it. If TR starts and is rusty and Dak goes in and makes a good game then it's clear who needs to be at the helm.

I bet they both play until one of them is working best and then the second guy still comes back in the game. I am gonna trust Mullen here for once. But I might not enter the stadium. I might just stay outside so I don't have to waste my money when we start the -3 yard draws.

Just reading the paper today it sounds like Mullen is still undecided.

It wouldn't surprise me if Russell got most of the snaps last week. He needs the reps. If Russell had started every game so far, I imagine that Dak would have gotten most of the reps during an off week.

Whoever starts, this game is all about our defense. Neither QB is going to win the game for us if it is a shoot-out like UGA-LSU.

Wayne Madkin's problem was he was one of the most inconsistent QBs we have ever had. TR looks good against bad opponents and bad against good opponents. Pretty predictable. Madkin's would look like a Heisman shoe in against Bama one week and completely lose the game against a Memphis or someone else the next. There was no rhyme or reason to his abilities.

I do put Madkin's issues on Sherrill though. I can count on one hand the number of players who actually improved their talents under Sherrill. He didn't develop players worth squat.
