Coach Howland is 61. That is 427 years old in dog years. :)
In today’s world, 61 is equivalent to 50 thirty-forty years ago.
So he is not old. I think he has 5-8 years easily left in him as a coach.
I would not worry too much about the 2019 recruiting class. Sometimes you are filling a couple of needs and the ranking of a player is not really that big of a deal. Plus player rankings can be a crap shoot anyway and we have seen our share big time busts.

Back to this season, I am pleased with the season. Certainly disappointed that we let some opportunities get away from us i. e. USCe, OM, LSU, KY, Auburn and Bama.
OTOH, we have had some good wins as well and back to back 20 win seasons are nice too.
On neutral floors this team can be very dangerous and we still have not come close to playing our best game yet. I think we can make a run , of course starting with Saturday against A&M.
We will see.

Yeah exactly. Roy Cal and K are coaching just fine.

Here's what I say to that. I understand that. But may I ask you the last time this program avoided the bad loss in a season? This team certainly did. And they have some wins over Auburn, Cincinnati, and Florida to show that they are good as well....

Season has been a success no doubt. Couldn’t stay in the games when a team was clearly better than us but took care of al,ost all the games we were comparable in talent. LSU was a smokescreen this year.

No we took LSU and Kentucky to the wire at home and they were both clearly better. You could argue Auburn was better and State defeated them at home. Mississippi State stayed with Tennessee in the SEC Tournament.

They just couldn't stay with good teams on the road. But who in the SEC could? Kentucky, Tennessee, and Auburn couldn't.

I agreed when you said this, but sweet 16 is looking really possible right now.

VTs coach is being pursued by Texas A&M and he isn't a great tournament coach. I think there's a decent possibility we see Saint Louis instead in the Second Round

Well, we're one and done. I'm not shocked. This game seemed like a microcosm of the entire season. We had several 2 to 3 minute stretches with really sloppy play. I will miss Q. He and Peters seemed like the only guys who played well tonight.

I wouldn’t say Peters played well. He made some bad plays turning the ball over and took some bad shots. First job of a point guard is take care of the basketball. Glad the season is over. Difficult team to watch.

Oh he made mistakes, no doubt. But, it seemed like he, Q and Woodard were the only ones scoring.

We screwed up the Nick Weatherspoon situation big time and it cost this team big time.

My fault. I shouldn't have watched the game. Every, EVERY damn game I've watched this year looked like last night.

Also, should have known the dreaded 5 seed is bad for us. Butler beat us as a 5 and did Xavier beat us as a 5?

I believe Xavier was a 15 which is worse.

However these mid majors get two weeks of rest before the tournament and they are always fresh.

Also the two teams you mentioned are considered top tier basketball programs ahead of this one. So losing to them isn't embarrassing in the slightest unlike last night.

Xavier was either a 7 or 10 that year, it was in the round of 32 I think. Either way, that was our best team ever assembled and we took a shite in the 2nd round.

Oh I thought that was a 1st round loss.

Well yes but you have to have a lot to win this thing.

That's why I told everyone focusing on regular season results was just being dumb.

It's all about what happens in the postseason as this is a postseason sport.

This felt like another missed opportunity. But it's not 100% on Howland. Most of it is lack of university support and them not doing what they needed to get Weatherspoon back.

If what is rumored to have happened occurred, he had to be suspended for the rest of the season at a minimum.

Looks like a starting 5 of

Nick Weatherspoon
Tyson Carter
Robert Woodard
Reggie Perry
Abdul Ado

And obviously you could mix that up since Perry played a lot of 5 and Woodard played a lot of 4 and Nick played both the 1 and the 2. Just depending on how the freshman class/transfer Game works.

Looks like you have another tournament team here if this is the case.

I saw where Nick has tweeted he's coming back. I wonder when we hear what the University has to say about the issue.
