@DawgsBiteMag: Cohen said team 'uninspired' "Every bit of it is my fault, we’ve got to do a better job with our kids and it starts tomorrow with practice.” Also said "I don't think we could have beaten a junior high team today".
That's coach speak for 'you don't want to be anywhere near the practice tomorrow'.

Cohen said it is clear to him what has to change. When @MikeBBonner asked “what has to change?” Cohen invited us all out to practice.

That should be interesting, might have to go see that.

I think it's pretty obvious that some of your players celebrated a little too much Saturday night and didn't come to the ballpark focused and ready to play yesterday's rubber match.

I agree with that. I'm not trying to flame, but I really just don't think state is very good this year. Talent is there, but this weekend wasn't really out of nowhere. They can still turn things around with the talent in place, but right now they just look bad.

We do look bad.
Doesn't help at all that our 2 best MLB arm talents have been shite this year(our 3rd best having preseason tommy john) -- as well as our best 2 returning bats.
That said, I'm sick of playing this group of upperclassmen singles hitters. Not working when they aren't consistently hitting singles like they currently aren't. Got a couple of freshmen that can hit for pretty good power or at least hit doubles sitting on the bench that need to be playing. Got a couple that were legit power threats in the fall that seem like they were a bad idea to redshirt at this point...
Going to be a "different" team going forward. He told them all to shave and be ready for the old Cohen on Sunday. The honeymoon/approach toward last season's squad is over. Wouldn't be surprised if we "lose" a couple of players in the next week or so...Rumor is we already damn near lost the 2 Canadians...

What? Why?

I heard Hann is transferring
That being said he had a chance at SS and lost it

They are unhappy. Been pretty well known for awhile. Robson is injured and Hann's allergies have him all messed up here. They cleaned out their lockers and didn't make the trip to Jackson on Tuesday -- but were back with the team this weekend. So who knows?
Truth is -- I don't much expect to see either of them ever be starters or major contributors for us outside of spots. Really, I hope they aren't. Just more of the same singles hitters...
With the balls changing next year, I expect us to try to be much more well rounded overall -- with at least a couple of power guys in the lineup. You can already see the change in recruiting philosophy in the last couple of classes. I am just ready for those guys to start contributing...

Yeah at the moment we are basically missing 4 out of our top 5 hitters from last year. Pirtle is the only one pulling his weight. I hope Cohen gives the young guys a chance to compete and take positions.

Exactly... I would promote a huge lineup turnover on Tuesday as a wake up call.
Start Sexton, Collins, Garner(1B), Humphreys(3B), keep the outfield arrangement as is depending on vs a righty/lefty, etc...
Maybe go:
Armstrong
Pirtle
Collins
Humphreys
Garner
Henderson
Bradford
Heck
- and pick a DH out of a hat...
Not saying I want that to be our longterm lineup -- but I would go drastic as shite against Alcorn to try to get a point across...

Who do y'all play this weekend?

So did his comments mean they would be running a lot, if so, I wanna see that.

Actually I just looked at the conference stats. Detz has raised his numbers a good bit. He should be playing. .283/.377/.387 avg/slg/obp
Rea on the other hand...guy looks awful. .190/.224/.262

Y'all should beat them 2/3. They aren't worth a damn. Even if they did beat Kentucky last weekend.
Posted on 4/14/14 at 1:23 pm to Henry Jones Jr
Maybe...depends on how the team reacts. Cohen has to given Lindgren more innings. Guy has been absolutely dominant in the SEC innings he has had so far. .64 ERA in 14 IP, 22 K's and 4 walks.

I think they're a little better than people give them credit for. They still aren't very good.
State should take 2.
