You know its true too.
What happened when he had to throw it in the second half? Major sacks? Why did he have to start throwing? What could have been done by the staff to stop that?

Darkhorse is right y'all..............................
We don't have a QB issue, we have a coaching issue.
That's the damn truth. Dak is wonderful and Mullen fricks it all by sticking our worst RB in (only because he's not 100%, but Perkins is not our best running back option right now) and shoving TR down our throat only to get him more injured and completely stall out our momentum.
We keep mixing it up at QB too much when we need to mix it up more at RB. For fricks sake, give me a committee style running game. That way it won't all come down to Dak to make plays.
I also just have to hand it to Kentucky's defense in the 2nd half. These coaches, who are much better than ours appearently, know we fall off the cliff in the second half and took full advantage of it and almost won that game.

Oh, several things happened...
Russell probably would have done fine, but that 3rd and 1 call was one of the dumbest things I have seen in a while. Hello... Gabe Jackson... Just give it to a big back and run behind him. We had to run a play that took a while to develop with a guy that can't really run that play. WTF. Put Russell under center with 2 backs and let Russell be Russell.
...and what got into Nickoe's shorts? 21-7. Stop them. Get the ball back. Get a TD or FG and be happy at half time.
I called the total yards at half when they showed our stats. 298 yds in the first half. I said we would do 1/2 of that in the 2nd half. Guess what? Exactly 149 yds. 447 total. 149 yds? That sucks so bad it is hard to explain.
I was in shock that we won. Gift 3 at the of the half. Gift 2 in the 3rd. Magically, we were up 6, and we all know what 7 for them does. I was having flashbacks of them beating us by 1 in 2008 in a game that there was no way they should have won. Sheesh.

Stop bringing up the 2008 season.

When you have flashbacks to 2008, there is trouble in paradise.
I don't understand it. We have way better talent and depth than we had then. We are putting up good yards. The defense is OK. We should have won the last two games by 15-20 pts.

I just meant I don't like thinking about the 2008 season in general. I am feeling pretty apathetic about this team right now. Ready for a change. Mullen is far too unwilling to change.

I just about gave up on MSU football after the half.
If there are moral victories, then there have to be moral losses and we've had two of those this year.
We should have dominated Kentucky and had all kinds of confidence going into the A&M game. Now, we'll be lucky to keep it within 100.
And Chris Jones is the best player in the world, but he only seems to play about 25% of the defensive snaps. Are we trying to fricking save him for something? He's a goddamn man so let him go murder people.

I don't know...I think Mullen's personnel decisions are what is driving me the craziest.
Won't play the best QB.
Won't play other RB's even though Ladarius looks like he can barely walk.
Won't try out another kicker.
Won't play Chris Jones who looks like a first rounder as a freshman more.
What the frick is he doing. I am done with him if he is unwilling to play our best players. He needs to go become an offensive coordinator at Ohio State and let us get Hud.

You do realize he made some key 3rd and long throws right? The problem wasnt' Dak, it was in those 3rd and long when the entire world sees the blitz is coming we're setting up for plays that take a long time to develop. And since you're going to have Perkins in there, throw a screen to him or a jailbreak to Lewis.

...just horrible play calling when they are getting ready to bring 6, 7, 8 guys. Some receiver has to see that and break a route to the middle quickly. That is just a TD opportunity turned into a tragedy. I guess the young guys will learn this some day.

those of you bashing Russell about "killing momentum" need to read this line above again.
The coaches are idiots for this reason alone. A CALLED QB run....QB power????
If i didn't know any better, it seems like the coaches sabotage Tyler EVERY chance they get. Subbing him in on 3rd and longs, calling QB runs for him to get blasted...and never playing to his strengths.
This staff has taken a kid with a bright future and pissed it all away because they have no idea how to use him. If Tyler had gone and rode the bench at USCe or Bama for 4 years, he would have gotten better QB coaching than we have given him.

absolutely. quick slant, something. After the first time they should have had the guys on the sidelines discussing this. Dak, we had timeouts, use it to tell Dak. It was poor coaching.
Has someone thought to get Joe Morrow's eyes checked? How can he have that many dropped passes? Also, can they not think of a way to get DeRunnya involved? At the end, Robinson should have been in there pounding it between the tackles running north south instead of a tired looking perkins rushing for losses and no gains.

You take Morrow to Dr. Ford and Taxman and I will take Mullen to be tested for low T.

I wonder if burning these redshirts are a sign that the eyes of the Hud are upon Muffin.

Add that with zero recruiting pulse.. We can only hope he's soaking it up in the tub and enjoying his last year.
