In that case, both State and Auburn get in easily...

No one-loss SEC champ is getting left out. No one-loss SECwest team period is getting left out. Just not happening. You could argue that it may have happened if there were 3-4 undefeated major conference champions out there, but there isn't. None of them can compare resumes and have the total body of work to justify getting in over State or Auburn.

Oregon - 1 home top 10 win. Maybe a neutral site top 10 win in P12 title game. borderline top 25 home loss.
State - 4 top 10 wins, 2 on the road. One road top 10 loss.
Michigan St - 1 top 10 win(maybe).
Auburn - 5 top 10 wins, 3 on the road. One road top 10 loss.

I can keep going. It's just not even a remotely close debate at this point...

I don't think h2h matters as much as total resume. Otherwise TCU would be ranked behind baylor and we would be behind LSU.

I don't think Dan would let up even if y'all were undefeated going into the Egg Bowl. It wouldn't fit his narrative and the fan base would be pissed.

Agreed but I don't think two get in.

Exactly. Not to mention, even if the game is meaningless, it would frick up any momentum their team has. You don't want to lose to a rival no matter how "meaningless" the game may be.

I don't think y'all would lose any recruits over it.

It's all about the atmosphere to 18 year olds.. Either way, laying off won't get us any sharper. It probably won't be a factor of a game if we DO beat Bama but stepping back won't matter.

What if Damian did start and we still won? There's an even better situation IMHO.

He earned his keep last year for sure. I enjoy watching him play.

Why would 2 not get in?

They would be the best 2 overall resumes in the country. I see no way two one-loss west teams can be denied simply based on the strengths of both their victories and defeats... Assuming the one loss isn't a wtf loss...

Auburn is already #3. They aren't going to drop by winning out @Georgia and @Bama

Sorry, I meant I don't think 2 get in because I don't think Auburn wins out.

If all the west teams but MSU(or Bama/Au for that matter) have 2 losses, then no, two will not get into the playoff.

For there to be an eventual west team with one loss other than MSU, we have to assume that either Bama or Auburn wins out. In which case, we still get 2 into the playoffs IMO. A one-loss MSU will get in based on strength of resume even if we lose in Tuscaloosa and Bama wins out and goes to the title game IMO... Basically, that would put Bama into our(current) shoes and us into Auburn's(current) shoes...

As long as MSU splits the OM and Bama games, it's pretty unlikely that we get left out of the playoff based on the strength of our Auburn, @LSU, and @OM/@Bama wins...

If Auburn wins out and State loses to OM the situation becomes interesting.

Auburn's resume would be better up until that point
but State would have the opportunity to win the SECCG and that could possibly put it over the top. It's going to be really interesting to see how much weight they put on conference championships. I'm not sure they will be a deciding factor.

Wow how do you even come up with this nonsense? Same basic schedule plus head to head and AU has a better resume? I realize yall dropped two and your season is in the shitter again but WTF is this nonsense?

C'mon man that had nothing to do with OM. You've played a similar schedule but Auburn would have also had to play @Kansas State and @Georgia. I thought that was pretty clear. Don't be that guy.

I wouldn't do that. If y'all lose to us, you are likely out of the playoffs.

One beats #6 (lower if they lose to LSU), plus our less than impressive win last week, the committee might just be looking for a reason to bump a one loss MSU down some. We need to finish strong. So, I guess I agree with you.
