Why is Mullen offering so many pro style QBs in this class? Actually any pro style QBs is too many, but we just offered Nick Tiano out of Chattanooga. Just your average 3* QB. Seems like we are also after Josh white pretty hard. Another pro style QB. When will Mullen learn f'n pro style dudes don't fit his system?

Stephen Rivers has to be the biggest head scratcher of QBs he has pursued. Could you imagine that goofy son of a bitch trying to run the read option against SEC defenses?

I'm fine with "pro style" as long as they are athletic as hell and capable of running the rock.

One could make the argument that Staley is "pro style" as well -- at least in the technical aspect of his high school offense... And I see White alot like Staley. Which leads me to -- who actually classifies these QBs? And what factors are they classified on?

This Tiano offer is a head scratcher to me though. Surely it isn't committable without camp measureables...

I still think it's J'Mar Smith's spot to lose... until I hear something different...

And the beauty of signing him is, like Fitzgerald, if QB doesn't work out -- he has the athleticism to change positions.

Not overly worried about QB in this class with 4 on campus and on roster, although I do think we need to take one.

You should take a QB in every class IMO.

Paul answered that question straight up and said it is committable. He has also said numerous times that he will not say that it is or isn't without hearing directly from the coaches.

That being said IDK what the frick is going on with all these quarterbacks.

Paul said that J'Mar is open to playing other positions as well.

I think that engie has said it as well but just to reiterate, Nick Fitzgerald was classified as a Pro-Style quarterback for a long time last year so this may end up being a lot like that.

How was he classified as a pro style QB? He ran a wing t offense where he rushed about 20 times a game and passed maybe 3.

I don't really know much about Josh White's mobility. J'Mar Smith is mobile and it seems like he is the QB that we will take this year.

It would be nice if we could nab a big recruit or two in the near future to keep this momentum going.

I have no fricking clue, I'm just saying I'm pretty sure that 24/7 had him as a pro style qb for a long time before changing it.

We'll probably pick up quite a few this summer, but we're probably in the doldrums as far as that's concerned for now.

I like Tianno's film a lot. Really big and has mobility. He's not a statue. I don't ever get caught up in what sites have a guy listed as (pro style or dual threat). I let the film tell me if he can move. 247 currently has Jonas Spivey as a dual threat QB and he will never play QB in college. Also has J'Mar as an ATH when he is a QB.

Nick Tiano Highlights

watch Tiano's film before you write him off as a statue just because he's listed as "pro style"

No he's not a burner/shifty guy but he's got great size and is very athletic. Given it's his highlight tape, but he can run pretty well. Certainly much better than TR.
