He’s back in the portal lol how does this guy still have eligibility. I thought he had a promising future here.

I was so fired up to get him on campus but man I wish the kid would’ve just focused on the MLB Draft right out of high school. Perfect Game had him as the #23 overall and #5 outfielder in the country coming out of high school. He could’ve at least gotten a good signing bonus. Now he’ll have to go get a real job to make a living.

Yeah was glad we got him. No clue what he did when he left.

I have no idea what sport he even plays now. When he transferred to Samford, he was baseball only. Barely played while there. Then he transferred to Memphis to play football only and never recorded a stat. Not sure Ive ever seen something like that before

That’s terrible to think about. Dude turned down that kind of money to live out a dream that is now a nightmare.

That’s why I would take the money

Well hopefully he gets a degree in some type of skill. His first contract wasn’t going to take him very far anyway.

Went to Stamford and then to Memphis. Had no stats last year at Memphis, so he's been a bust ever since he left the Tigers...

If I was him I would have mental issues for a life time . Bad advice or a bad gamble things come easy in high school college can bring you back to reality

I just don't understand how the guy went from being a top HS baseball prospect and starting a game at safety in the college football playoff to not being able to see the field in either sport at Samford and Memphis. At least I'll never forget Mo lighting up Jalen Hurts when he tried to do one of his annoying arse scrambles.

I don't get it either, he looked extremely promising in both sports and then completely fell apart. He was improving dramatically in baseball after he started getting playing time, even starting in several games.

Given that hes a 2 sport guy, he shoulda taken the money knowing he could use football to get a scholarship and go to college. But hey, Hindsight is 20/20.

I would have guessed he was about 30 by now. Seems ages ago he was at LSU.

He got a degree last year from Memphis. Wouldn’t shock me if he tries to coach at his high school (I’m an alum there too). He goes back a lot and guys like him frequently come back to coach

That dude was badass as a true freshman in 2019. Against Oklahoma, he ran and tracked down Jalen Hurts in open field like a heat-seeking missile and knocked Hurts backwards and onto his arse.

That’s pretty impressive for any college player. Hurts is a load to tackle.

Did he get injured? How does he end up “failing” in two sports?

He screwed up his development in both by switching back and forth between two sports instead of picking one and sticking with it or continuing to play both.

2019-2020: Football and Baseball at LSU
2020-2021: Football and Baseball at LSU (left baseball team in March and entered portal)
2021-2022 - baseball only at Samford
2022-2023 - baseball only at Samford
2023-2024 - football only at Memphis

IIRC, at LSU he wanted to quit the football team but also wanted Mainieri to keep him on full scholarship on the baseball team AND guarantee him a starting OF spot. Mainieri couldn't give him a full ride with the scholarship limitations in baseball and also couldn't guarantee him to start because we had a loaded outfield. He was also still very raw in baseball due to splitting time between football and baseball his entire life. So he left and his career has been a mess ever since
