Why is changing username so impossible

I never thought I'd post here. Now I post daily. My name was just a stupid thing done when all the cool names I tried (Fletch/Doubledown) were taken.
Do I really have to create a new account to stop using this dumb username?

No. And even when I did live in ATL it was always as a Louisiana guy. Never wanted to be associated with the city.
I'm telling you, I typed name after name just trying to get something that would allow me to move forward in the registration. Every day I loath being known for this whimsical name. Every day I wonder why it takes an act of congress to change it.

Change it to AtlantaLSUfan08, then everybody will think 7 others have to same name, and know its cool....
