Why aren't Toney and Pierce getting more touches?

Im losing my mind that our two best offensive players aren't touching the ball more.

Stubborness. Same reason we're sticking with a basketball player cosplaying as a Quarterback.

34/71, 47% against FBS teams. We need to retool this offense next year.

Franks is a mystery to me. He looks so bad sometimes, but then other times he throws a dime to Cleveland for a TD, or hits Swain on the move for a TD. Consistency remains his biggest issue.

I get what Mullen is doing with that though. His ceiling is so high if the light goes on.

What I don't fricking understand is our play calling and ball distribution.

Grimes? Nothing. Jefferson? 2 targets all night. Toney? 2 touches all night.

We have to find a way to get our dynamic play makers the ball.

Florida was 3-11 on 3rd down tonight. They won't beat decent SEC teams with those numbers unless everyone gives us 6 turnovers a game.

But whatever, UF needed this win on the road to stay in the hunt for bowl eligibility. Glad they got it, and with MSU looking shitty tonight maybe they actually have a chance to win next week.

It is weird that we can’t seem to get the playmakers the ball .

I’m enjoying it plenty. Is this board for talking football or just posting happy thoughts? Don’t be a dick.

Looking at Boxscore Toney ran the ball seven times...nobody got many carries since its divided up. He certainly wasn't left out.

Believe me I love seeing Pierce run the ball but he probably hasn't mastered blocking schemes and routes. Most of you think its simple...just hand the ball to him. More to it than that. Contact Mullen by email to voice your concerns.

Definitely just for acting like everything is okay without actually talking football.

I totally agree, Franks looks great one drive and then like he doesn't know what he's doing the next. He's STILL taking the risky throws.

And I have no idea why the offense seems so determined to get our worst receivers the ball and we don't seem to have very many pre-snap plays to certain players.

Defense came to play these last few weeks, though.

Pierce and Toney average 1000 yards a carry and they barely touch the ball.

fricking hell.

As bad as we look at times on offense, we still look leagues ahead of where McElwain had us and we are only 4 games in with a sub par QB

You can tell the direction is good, but we need some of those Mullen Quartebacks to come in.

That offensive line with a mobile quarterback coached under Mullen? I'm ready. For all of the shite the offensive line gets, they consistently give pristine, clean pockets and are doing much better week in and week out, even missing McCoy.

I still think we need to tweak the playcalling, way too many 'reads' because we leave first downs and shorter games on the field. I'm just happy the running game is slowly starting to improve.

200 yards on the road ain't bad at all.

We made a lot of check down throws tonight. Primary receivers were likely Jefferson, Grimes, etc.

Pierce likely is still green on receiving and blocking I'd suspect but we will see more of him.

As for Toney. No clue. The man needs to touch the ball 10-12 times a game. Don't know why Mullen hasn't decided this is my Percy with him.

Feels like we still are trying to feed everyone the ball. Soon we need to limit down the must get it too players. I get Pierce not getting a ton till he learns a little more but Toney must touch the damn ball more.

Time to see more end arounds. More WR screens. More deep balls to Cleveland because he is an absolute stud with 50/50 balls.

This was also the first game where I saw Mullen actually tear into some players on the sideline for making bonehead plays. I thought 8-4 was our ceiling this year and I’m sticking to that

8-4 his first year would be a very good start for Mullen. Especially if Frank's continues to improve. It's tedious...but you can see glimpses of hope lol

Uh Pierce had seven carries. Scarlett was good today, too, and needs to get consistent touches.

Not sure Perine needs touches but he's a competent back as well. He'll probably be the loser if Pierce and Scarlett continue to play well.

Toney, idk. I'd like to see him incorporated into short passes and screens more often but the offense as a whole wasn't a problem today so I'm not sure why people are bitching.

Our best players still aren't getting touches, or aren't getting nearly the amount of touches that they ought to.

Every single sports pundit the world over says:

Toney should touch the ball 12 times a game minimum. How many touches does he have on the year, in three games? 8.

Franks had more designed runs than Pierce and Perine this game.

You guys have to stop taking criticism of the team/players like someone is kicking your dog, because it's not that people are unhappy -- we're always thankful to bend Tennessee over, pull up her sundress and knock cowboy boots, but there's no shame in admitting that the offense obviously needs work.

It wasn't terrible, but the offense cannot keep being just average if we ever want to actually accomplish anything. I don't think it's too early, our defense is getting into rhythm (even without Wilson) but our offense consistently looks disjointed and clumsy.

We have three great drives, but they're spread out in two quarters. The other two quarters they look like dogshit, and it's literally three and outs with pretty bad QB'ing. Finch posted that Franks hadn't driven down the field once the entire game until late into the the 4th Quarter.

The idea is: We need to fix this downfield passing problem that has plagued Florida football for seasons and seasons. This idea that we pass for an incompletion, run it on second, and hope to God Franks can figure it out on third is the same formula every year.

So man, chill out. People are happy. We just want to know why our best players aren't being utilized and why the offense hasn't been retooled.

Franks threw for 50% of his passes again, and is still >50% on the year vs FBS teams. The touchdowns are great, but the inconsistency is literally what took us out of the game against Kentucky -- and I'm cool with anyone saying it was the defense, but in the end 21 points at home should be doable, even against Kentucky who just beat MSST.

If you guys don't like to talk more in depth about the actual game, I'm not sure why you spend 80% of your time just bitching about people who want to see more.

Are you mistaking me for someone else? I'm not the kind of guy to criticize people for complaining (except when it becomes pathological like TJ or your Franks shtick).

And people are calling Pierce and Toney our "best players," but idk. Pierce is already heavily involved in the offense. Scarlett played poorly in the first two games but he also hadn't played football in a year. Those two are fine in the roles they're in.

Toney is a really good playmaker and I'd like to see some creativity in getting him the ball, but we have other talented WRs who are way more polished than Toney, so I have a really hard time calling him our "best player." He's not even close to Percy and anyone who makes that comparison needs a lobotomy ASAP.
