The only thing Mullen has been Elite at is recruiting 3* players to Florida

And then coaching them up to play like 4-5 star players for 9 or 10 games. Unfortunately, he's also going to coach them to play like 1-2 star players 3 or 4 games.

There is no getting back to the top until Saban retires. Just be a top 15 program until that happens. I’ve come to accept this.

I agree with you that we are a top 15 program. But its because of Mullen, not Saban and we will be a top 15 program after he retires.

Until we recruit at a consistent Top 3 level this is who we are.

I agree we HAVE to have an elite recruiter. We shouldn't have lost this game and we were unprepared. It was a horrible gameplay. AR15 should have been in more and either should have been throwing it downfield.
If we fired Mullen who would we hire that's better? Mullen does get more out of the players that he has than anyone and that's why we need the recruiter to put us over the top. That and Mullen to stop shitting the bed against an inferior opponent once a year

Been saying this guy was not it for a while.
Sad but true.

Hope we're not stuck with him

Thats what I believe. There is nobody that you can upgrade with. Mullen is the man for the job. We just need an elite recruiter and stop mailing in on "gimme" games

I have a feeling Mullen will end up with a pretty hot seat next season if he continues with the Jones/Richardson situation. Having the flashy offense at times keeps the heat down more than the situation with prior coaches but you have to contend for SEC championships at UF.

There’s no reason to fire Dan. The coaching landscape is about the same as CFB in general this year.

It’s Saban, then a big gap, then everyone else.

How many actual elite coaches are there? Some are elite at recruiting, some at game planning, etc. But the list is really really short for coaches who are got at all of it.

I dont think Dan should be fired but alot I mean "ALOT" of pressure needs to be put on him to completely make wholesale changes to his staff and Pronto!!!

He should not be fired but he should be surrounded with a stronger staff with more elite recruiters.

Talent,talent, talent.

Exactly my issue with firing him. Personally, I think we have a less personable Mark Richt as coach now, but keeping us around 10-ish wins a season coach is probably the best move for the moment. Get our facilities upgraded, and at least stay around the Top 10 in the meantime. Maybe catch lighting in a bottle with AR15 one season - even Chizik won a natty with a phenom at QB (much as I can't stand Cam).

But no, I don't think Mullen is elite, but what slam dunk hire is out there right now. I'm not happy about it, but Mullen is the best option for now it seems to me.

I agree recruiting has to get better too.

The problem with the "who else can we get" mentality is that keeping a coach around because there's no obvious Saban level hire is just lazy. If Mullen isn't the guy, which I don't think he is, then go out and get that guy. Keeping a coach around that we're not long term committed to only makes it that much harder for the next guy to come in and change things.

Mullen still would be owned by Kirby and possibly Stoops.

UF won't see the top again with this clown as HC.

I am hoping once he is forced to start Richardson he may be enough of a game changer to overcome that.

Yes that mentality is so damn soft and passy.
