I can't help but think Mullen gets rid of him this offseason. I feel like he will hold us back from a championship for as long as he is here

The defense is getting better every game. I would chill with this.

Just look at the second half in the UK game. I know they were forced to throw and couldn't, but you're starting to see a 2nd half shift for the defense nearly every game.

That chewing did work...cause we have absolutely shut Kentucky down this second half

The defense looked completely different in the 2nd half but this is also against lesser teams. I'd love to see him be able to make those types of adjustments against Bama. I guess only time will tell. Either way a win is a win

The thing is: You don't need to adjust.

A lot of these defenses are easy to figure out, I figure them out weeks earlier. Grantham is just lazy. I think he's pretty much conceded that he will leave at the end of the year.

Terry Wilson cannot consistently throw downfield, and it makes no sense to just let them piece us up and down the field. If they're going to drive like that, at least make them work for it. They didn't even have to work to keep the ball for 23 - 24 minutes in the first half.

Literally, just load the box, play single high safety press man.

Even idiots like me on a message board know that's how you beat Kentucky.

Same with next week, man up outside, zone the box up if you want to run zone. He's just such a goddamn lazy POS.

This is not a championship caliber defense...Whose fault is that?

Not as worried about the defense right now. The offense has got to be world class to best Alabama and something was missing today

There’s no excuse for the players to be so out of position like they were yesterday. Running around not knowing where to line up? On two consecutive plays UK had the line spread with trips to the right and no one covering the slot receiver,. Then just before the snap our DB came running across the field to man up? It looks like the defense isn’t even practicing. For gods sake are they even watching game tape?

That's also a case I make for Grantham being lazy.

We haven't been lining up correctly the entire year. Any team that watches us should have a two-minute offense, run it as fast as possible.

Grantham doesn't prepare for it, and he seems too afraid to have other gameplans. How many games does he need to see to work on more simplistic defensive schemes?

IMO, this year's defense is on Grantham. If he returns, and next year's defense continues to regress, then that's 100% on Mullen.

I predicted this would be Grantham's last year at UF.

Rumor was he was close to leaving after last year too.

Mason was just fired at Vandy. I'm 100% for bringing him to UF

Hope we get Mason too we spent 1.6 on Grantham

Mullen had no connection to him so its possible

He was coming off the Sirmon hire and a horrible yr on defense. Let's hope he does what he need to again

I hate to be so aggressive with this, but I'm pretty sure Mullen and Mason hate each other. I think Grantham might get one more year, maybe, depending on a few other circumstances.

Not that I want that, just that a lot of highly rated defensive recruits are coming in and I have to think he's a big part of the reason. Maybe not, but they will likely say this year was a mulligan.

Most defenses around the country look like shite.

I believe if Grantham leaves it will because he wants to, not because he will be fired. We have a lot of young talent and some solid recruits heading our way. The frustration I have is that the defensive coaching staff continues to play the older players that are not as talented as some of their backups.

What I'm hoping, and no one is going to like it, is:

Grantham stays, but now with a team full of his players, has more confidence to coach like he normally does. This fangless Grantham scared to blitz and play man is excruciating.

Really, if he just gets his head out of his arse and has the athletes, we'll be right as rain. We know the talent is coming in, Grantham has got to just nut up and take his job more seriously.

10 and 17 points isn't that bad for the last two games, but if he can make the adjustment, and maybe that public arse chewing was enough, I like the guy.

He can clearly recruit, and we've had two top ten defenses the last two years.

This is with the huge acknowledgment: If he doesn't change in the next few games, he's got to go. Some would be logical in demanding that he go right now.

Same but soon have choice but to play guys like Tyron Hopper

He should be our coverage LB always has great closing speed on RBs also. Miller and Houston shoot the wrong gap too much

Diabate should be rushing the passing every 3rd and long occasionally drop him etc etc lol

Wingo Diabate Hopper Black get all them boys on the field at the same time in the future I hope

I’m of similar opinion with Straws on this. Seems like there is some bad blood between them.

But then, we did hire Randy Shannon shortly after whipping Miami and harassing his team.

Yeah but those two literally almost had a riot between each other, and Mullen has run the score up twice in a row. I don't see Mason coming to Florida.
