He's a billionaire lawyer who, I think, graduated from Miami.

I believe he is more of a business man who also got his law degree and practices law. I have a hard time believing he became a billionaire through strictly practicing law.

He's kind of like what Darren Heitner is for UF: he helped set up Miami's NIL system and advises them on how to run it without getting in trouble. He's actually more hands on than Heitner. I thin Heitner just advises those who run the GC, while Ruiz, I believe, actually runs LifeWallet or whatever the frick their thing is called. He might've even set up a corporation that provides the LifeWallet program and services to recruits/players.

Florida has parted ways with four scholarship players: wide receivers Fenley Graham and Marcus Burke, safety Mordecai McDaniel, and defensive lineman Chris Thomas, multiple sources familiar with the development told Swamp247’s Brett DioGuardi on Wednesday afternoon.

Maybe Napier expects some commits coming in and is clearing roster space?

https://247sports.com/college/miami/board/92/Contents/5star-wr-jalen-brown-joins-qb-jaden-rashada-at-miami-on-wednesday-189080440/?page=1

quote:

Miami Gulliver Prep five-star wide receiver Jalen Brown is back at Miami on Wednesday. The local pass catcher posted a picture on social media of Top247 quarterback Jaden Rashada dressed up in a Miami uniform ready for his photoshoot.

Sources indicate that the signal-caller actually called Brown and asked him to join him on campus.

The two have a strong relationship considering they’ve played a couple of 7-on-7 tournaments together with the Miami Immortals. Rashada reshuffled his commitment plans to add an official visit with the Hurricanes before concluding his recruiting process on Sunday with an announcement live on CBSSportsHQ. Florida, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and LSU are the finalists.

There currently aren’t any 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, but the Gators had momentum going into the final weekend before Rashada extended his process by a week. Now, Miami may have some juice according to national analyst Cooper Pategna.

Brown, the nation’s No. 4 wideout according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, is also one of the fastest prospects in the nation, going as fast as 10.66 in the 100-meter and 20.98 in the 200-meter.

As a junior, Brown caught 56 passes for 1033 yards with 11 scores for a Raiders team that made a deep 4A playoff run before losing to the eventually state champs in Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons. Brown also earned MaxPreps Junior second-team All-American honors.

Glad Burke is staying.

We need WR, even if it's just for depth.

2 Mich State mods from 247 just CB'd OL Payton Kirkland to Sparty.

We'll see, but that looks like the destination for him.

I got to say, I can be a bit of a sunshine pumper, but it's not a good sign that the coach is writing an open letter to fans like this 6 months into his tenure.

He has no blame at all imo. You can't expect Napier to have a top 3 second class like some former coaches with NIL controlling things with the real top recruits now. We probably fall in the lower part of the top 10 with that I would guess so you have to pick and choose wisely. If this was the 80s we would be top 5 in NIL but we don't have as many rich boosters willing to do what it takes compared to some other schools now. Many aren't huge football fans anymore.

i'm gonna copy/paste this post from 247:

I've seen a few folks mention that they think "UF is poor" which is why we're losing NIL.

UF isn't poor. We have arguably a Top 3 program in terms of Booster donations. And we've got a Top 8 program in overall Athletic Dept revenue. UF should be thriving in the NIL era.

Twitter Thread/TLDR

https://twitter.com/JBudDavis/status/1540346470691389440?s=20&t=223opiQYb0vyRvcVYyBoHg

Below are two charts that look at the Top 15 programs in 2020 Booster Contributions

First viz shows Booster Donation in time. We can see that since 2005, UF has been a consistent top program in Booster Donations to UF Athletics.

This second graph shows a Box and Whisker plot of where UF's Boosters annual giving has ranked. In 2020, we were #3 in the nation in Booster Donations. In term of consistent high level giving, Texas is really the only program comparable to UF.

Now, not all programs generate their revenue through Booster donations. Programs like Alabama tend to fund their Athletic Departments through Booster Money funneled through Endowment programs. This type of funding will be harder to redirect in the NIL-era. Nevertheless, it's still important to look at Total Athletic Dept revenue, and not just Booster donations to get an idea of how UF stacks up compared to other programs financially.

Looking at total Athletic Dept revenue, we can see that UF is consistently near the top and is probably a Top 8 program in overall finances.

I won't speculate on what's wrong with UF's recruiting. But I can say that:
-The problem is NOT that UF doesn't have a wealthy booster base
-The problem is NOT that the boosters aren't generous towards UF athletics
-The problem is NOT that our Athletic Dept is poor

quote:

Bud Davis
@JBudDavis
Some UF fans seem to think the Gators won't survive the NIL era because UF isn't as rich as other programs. Here is why that is wrong

TLDR:
??UF is easily Top 5 in Booster $$$
??UF Top 8 in Ath Dept Revenue
??$$$ shouldn't be an issue for UF NIL
??Boosters must get organized

I'm not blaming Napier. But there are some clear issues that need to be worked through somewhere in the system.

If the problem isn't addressed ASAP, it might end poorly for Napier.
