39 to 26 in recruiting rankings

if you don't know, Stokes went to Nease. know who else went to Nease?

i'm sure there's no correlation.

This does point to Napier being a good recruiter imo as these guys are right at that point they can't demand some pretty big NIL deal until they show it on the field. I guess McClain might show us if we will at least strategically use NIL to land a few of them that can. We all know those rankings aren't no guarantee either but you do need to be up the list there to win.

I love he is pulling these recruits and it shows Napier isn't the reason if we don't become a top 5 class place again but I hope we show we are willing to use NIL to get a few of the very top ranked recruits to get back near Georgia's level of recruiting. I don't think we should give these QBs the insane amounts they are getting but we should play the game some on some other positions. If we don't around the bottom of the top 10 in recruit avg. is probably the limit and recent history says you can only win an SEC or national championship then with a really top game changing college QB.

I can assure he knows how important NIL is. I think they said we had an 11 million dollar deal for Rashada.

Not too concerned about him anymore. He might have some regrets tho if AR balls out and Miami's QB starts to regress for what ever reason.

Can you imagine? Lol Cuz he was like 6-1 with really good stats with Diaz and Lashlee

Considering what Cristobal did (or failed to do) with Herbert at Oregon, I wouldn't be surprised if Van Dyke doesn't start living up to his potential until he reaches the next level.

And to Gator Fever's point about Napier, I also never felt Napier was the issue with recruiting.

And while I didn't freak out about that rough patch in June, I didn't like it and understand why some fans did melt over it.

That said, I like how Napier bounced back from that criticism and negativity and kept chopping wood and carrying water to pick up some good commits. Still lots of work to be done to get where we'll all be happy with the program, but unlike Mac and Mullen, Napier has shown that he could deal with some fan and media criticism and adversity without folding and quitting.

I'd rather have it be smooth sailing moving forward, but this is a re-build, so there might be rome rough seas ahead.

Florida continues to mine footprint, enters top 20 in 2023 recruiting
JACOB RUDNER 21 hours ago
quote:

For years, the most successful college football programs have enclosed the 500-mile radius surrounding their universities, attracting and ultimately signing many of the high-profile recruits within that area. And while the best teams in the nation also successfully depend on their national prestige to attract talent from outside their 500-mile footprint, they also effectively keep the best local prospects close to home.

With 12 prospects in the fold in its 2023 class, Florida has emphatically delivered on the in-footprint aspect as all 12 members of its group come from fewer than 350 miles of Gainesville with athlete Aaron Gates, a four-star prospect from Sharpsburg, Georgia, being the most distant.

Gates and four-star edge TJ Searcy are the only 2023 prospect committed to the Gators’ 2023 class who comes from outside the Sunshine State. On Friday, Florida’s in-state talent list grew again when four-star wide receiver Eugene Wilson III committed to the program, joining 247Sports Composite four-star edge rusher Isaiah Nixon (St. Petersburg), four-star offensive lineman Knijeah Harris (Bradenton), four-star quarterback Marcus Stokes (Jacksonville), four-star running back Treyaun Webb (Jacksonville), four-star cornerback Sharif Denson (Jacksonville), four-star defensive lineman Gavin Hill (Gainesville), three-star wide receiver Creed Whittemore (Gainesville), three-star offensive lineman Bryce Lovett (Rockledge) and three-star wide receiver Tyree Patterson (Eustis) to give the Gators 10 in-state commitments.

Florida has signed at least 10 in-state prospects in all but one class (2022) since 2010, a trend that has been accomplished, barring decommitments who do not get replaced, in the 2023 class.

“I think that's the one thing to remind ourselves of is that Florida brand is strong,” Napier said in February.

Wilson is a significant addition to the Gators’ class as he bumps them from No. 26 nationally in 2023 recruiting to No. 19. Fewer than 24 hours earlier, Florida ranked outside the top 40 teams in the country.

Wilson had no shortage of options throughout his recruitment as he was reportedly linked to programs such as Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Oregon and Texas A&M, among others.

However, the 5-foot-11, 165-pound wideout held firm that the Gators sat in the pole position in his recruitment since March. In April, he called Florida the leaders in his recruitment multiple times following his visit to Gainesville to watch Florida’s Orange and Blue game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The game gave Wilson a glimpse at how he might be utilized should he choose to join the program. It cemented his strong feelings for the team.

“After seeing the way they utilize their slot receiver,” Wilson said, “I feel like for sure they’re my top right now.”

Wilson visited Florida four times since its coaching staff changed late last year and has offered rave reviews of the program, touting its facilities, coaching staff and campus. The four-star prospect from Tampa (Fla.) Gaither High School also lauded the program’s athletes, particularly cornerback Jordan Young, who Wilson played with at the prep level.

In fact, Wilson credited Young with sparking his interest in the program as well as drawing him out to the team’s spring game, which appeared to be a significant date in Wilson’s recruitment.

“He was the one who brought it to my attention, the spring game,” Wilson said. “I didn’t even know about the spring game until he hit me up about it. I knew he was going to put on a little show. He’s the one who really got my eyes on Florida. That’s why I really locked in.”

Jordan Castell i believe will jump on board soon. I really hope Kamran Jones does to. We on a wave rn guys let's keep it going

Sorey and Mizell are 2 more at WR. Idk but i got feeling Leblanc or Walker will be a gator. Or i hope just like with Jordan Hall. We'd make fsu fans sterile with that kick in the sack. like they used to us getting Sercy and Hall.

We never offered Rashada anything like that. We told him if he came to UF and produced he would get NIL like that. That crooked lawyer lied. I think the real story is Miami actually promised him like 4 to 5 million for 4 years no strings attached except to still be on the team.

We haven't paid anyone any significant NIL that is a recruit. We have only paid that to current players and transfers if the info I heard is correct. That is why I am curious if we sign any of these very top recruits like McClain unless that changes. Most of them are wanting guaranteed money it seems. We will find out I guess.

Maybe AR has a surprisingly great year and changes a lot as we win 9 games. I'm being a hopeful homer here but we surprise people this imo how we do idk but I'm just confident in Billy

Man if we Utah I for one will so happy.

The first 4 games will determine the season. If we come out the gate and beat Utah, Kentucky, South Florida and Tenn the momentum should carry us to a 10 win season. Following that E Washington and Missouri should be wins. That would set us up at 6-0 going into the LSU game at home. We are due to beat them after a couple years of disappointments. Then comes 2 tough games with UG and Ta&m both on the road. The last 3 games are winnable U of SC, Vandy and Fsucks.

This team could be 10-2 or 6-6. Which one will be determined early and of course an injury to AR would be devastating, but I am the eternal optimist. Go Gators.
12-0 and on to Atlanta!

This team could win 9 games if they avoid key injuries, not a lot of depth. They also need to start fast with some wins over Utah, Kentucky and Tennessee to build confidence and momentum. I am cautiously optimistic.

If this team could start 4-0 I will be dreaming of big things. Richardson living up to the hype and D line depth will probably determine if that is possible.

And if the Gators start 4-0, the next two games are E Washington and Missouri, both should be wins.

In this scenario we go into the LSU 6-0 and ranked in the top 10.

Then comes the 2 toughest games of the season, UG in Jax and TA&M on the road. Finishing with USC, Vandy, Fsucks should be 3 more wins.

Yep if we were undefeated going into the Georgia game even a loss there with an A&M win might have us a playoff possibilty.

If they can find a way to go 3-1 in September then I think it sets up very nicely for a 9 win Season if they go 2-2 then it starts to get iffy on what the season will be like. If it's 1-3 will be lucky to go 6-6 which would be a very disastrous 1st year for Napier unless AR gets hurt then it's downhill anyway.
