I thought I'd share this mailbag from the Athletic. It's currently just $1 a month and well worth the subscription.

All of the sports sites have banned that (I don't think this one has yet). I know other sites are worried about the access to new content over that, but I have no idea how much of a big issue it is.
Will never pay online, though, when there are other ways to generate cash.

My bad. Here are the parts I found interesting.
quote:
Hey, Allan. Welcome to Gator Nation! Can you give us a prediction for breakout player on offense and defense this year? — Kunwar S.
Appreciate the hospitality. Returning to the South after eight years in West Virginia, I’m unpacking my collection of cardigans and making plans for a trip to Goodwill.
On offense, Jacob Copeland should deliver a big season — like 50-plus catches. He possesses top-end skills that will be amplified with safeties bracketing tight end Kyle Pitts.
Defensively, it feels like Brenton Cox has already broken out, based on the fawning reviews from coaches and teammates. But let’s remember he’s 21 months removed from his last game. Otherwise, Mohamoud Diabate has added 10 pounds without losing a step. He can be a nasty disrupter, especially in passing-down packages when he and Cox are unleashed.
quote:
How many wins is a reasonable expectation for the Gators this season, assuming all 10 games are played? And which team do you think is the biggest matchup problem? — Jonathan D.
It’s hard to win ’em all in the SEC, even under the typical eight-game conference schedule. The last 20 years’ worth of data proves it: Only nine of the 40 SEC Championship Game participants went unbeaten in league play. Thus, I think a 10-game SEC slate is going to be particularly brutal.
“It’s going to be like the National Football League,” said Florida assistant Tim Brewster, “where each week you’re running the gauntlet.”
So I’ll give the Gators one loss on principle. Initially, I suspected they might trip up at Texas A&M, but then Aggies wide receiver Jhamon Ausbon opted out, leaving Kellen Mond without his top target. (And essentially without any targets returning.)
If you’re looking for matchup problems, Georgia has an elite defense and Kentucky and Tennessee have units capable of looking elite on a given Saturday.

Copeland (WR) had a few pretty bad drops but was a Freshman so we sort of overlook it. Apparently he's a freak in the gym, so we'll have to see if he's been able to put the whole package together.
Brenton Cox I've heard a ton about, and it's always positive. Apparently he's been tearing it up at practice, so I'm happy to see that this narrative hasn't changed.
Diabate had a great season and found his way to the Quarterback a lot. He's really, really fast. "Named SEC Freshman of the Week after tallying career-highs in tackles (4), sacks (3.0) and forced fumbles (1.0) to lead Florida in their blowout win against Vanderbilt… Helped make Florida the only team in the SEC with more than six players with at least 3.0 sacks…"
We could lose any SEC game, it's not an easy conference but I expect we will not be blown out in any game. We will be in every game until late in the 4th quarter for sure.
Kyle Trask is the real deal, and even if he's injured Emory Jones has had plenty of snaps and is ready to take over.
Anthony Richardson is getting very high praise, and a lot of us aren't even sure if Emory is the best backup QB.
Yes, he is that good.
6'4'', put on a ton of weight this off-season (good weight, went from 208 to 233) and Ran a 4.50 - 40 yard dash as a recruit.
Our QB room is going to be absolutely stacked once Carlos Del Rio gets on campus.
Well, it already is, but even moreso.

Thanks for the material Porter. To me it always seems like anyone they talk about breaking through never does.
