He said all the right things. This is by no means a lock to win hire lane was. Butttt I can see now why he was #2
That said I still don’t like Scott stricklin

Man, I just don't think Kiffin is the lock so many thought him to be. Ole Miss changed up a lot when Carter took over as AD itself, and Lane had the benefit of some easy schedules and down teams. No doubt Lane is a good coach, but we're about to find out just how good.
Personally, watching the drama around his exit from Ole Miss and some of the gossip coming out about him subsequently, I think that guy is still a shite bag who is about as likely to crater LSU as to win a natty. Hell, he may do both. Is tenure at LSU is going to be fascinating to watch one way or the other.
I think you can by optimistic that Sumrall may end up being a good get while also still hating Stricklin. I know folks who actually worked with him at Mississippi State who will tell you he is a giant, egotistical a-hole that they were glad to never have to be in a room with again but that he still did some good things at MSU.

I feel like Sumrall could have a decent floor but has no sec HC experience at all while kiffin has been coaching on the sec for 7 seasons with his last five being highly successful

OM had the worst rated schedule in the SEC at the end of the season and is 40th in strength of schedule for the year.

Yeah I’ll take back what I said a few days ago I like this guy more than if we hired Lincoln Riley this is a better hire than that would’ve been

Sure it was easy this year and he won 11 games so that adds up

I’m ready to run through a fricking wall for this guy. Holy shite did that press conference get me pumped.
ETA: that rant he had about how the NFL has an actual season and a free agency period and it has an actual structure whereas college football is just randomness in the wind with contracts you can throw in a bonfire almost mirrors a rant I went on during Thanksgiving with my family

Agreed he’s really impressed me.
And ditto on the Lane cringe. I drank the Kool Ade this year and it looks like he’s the same person he always was.
Also props to Tulane and Florida for working out a deal where he can coach the Green Wave until their season ends.
I like where the program is heading and he’s certainly NOT Billy.
Starkville Scott still sucks chrome off trailer hitches.

Let’s see who he brings in first and how the team reacts before we make this statement. I’m cautiously optimistic.
