The level of trolling this week is going to be epic.
We better tackle better than we did last year. Otherwise Dobbs and Co. are going to run all over us.

We gave Dobbsy too much credit for throwing the ball and allowed him to run wide on us...we wont do it again I believe. Not worried one bit about our defense...I tried to sing their praise all spring and when I watched spring game and saw LDR throw accurate passes I knew we had the ability to have a 11-1 type year.

Any word on Del Rio? No torn ligaments I hope?
Posted on 9/18/16 at 10:32 am to GatorNation11
I don't want to speculate, but that looked like an ACL/MCL type injury to me.
I'm pretty certain hes 100% out next week.

They're going to get shut down this year for sure. Florida's defense is too fast, and their QB yesterday was also mobile and had no time to do anything, I heard the Tenn. offensive line is pretty bad, too.

247 reporting that Del Rio will be back by LSU game.

I feel like our running game has improved. The passing game is what I'm worried about now that del Rio is out. Some of y'all have said we need to have a 2 back system but I kind like the four backs playing. They've all been productive.

I think the coaches have been sandbagging Mark Thompson # 24 all along...he has started the past two games to give him confidence and held out a lot....he is a freaking load at 6'2" and 245 and is just the kind of back we need...he and Scarlett will get the larger number of carries...mark my word on that. We still will sub Cronkrite and Perine...but Thompson going forward is what I see and he is faster than you think with that size. He can fall forward and just about get two yds.
The special teams play is where a lot of games are won or lost and we have it in spades...Fast Eddie and Johnny are weapons...kicking off deep into the endzone is important as UT has Berry as a return guy with quicks.
Remember the run game may be boring to some of you...but the idea is to not put Appleby in third and longs...which brings up another point...flags...which can cause those third and longs....need Ol to not committ any motion penalties. Anyway...you run for four yds on 1st down and then three on second down and you face a much more managable third and 3....run or pass option to keep defenses honest.
The film room is all important and asst and grad assts study film for the coaches and break down tendencies....does the defense tend to do something in blitzs? It can be as simple as a twitch...or the sideline giving away a signal or tendency.
Its one thing to know what they are going to do and its another to stop it. A lot of folks scream for blitzs and dont understand that DBs have their backs to the QB in man coverage usually. An eight man drop in coverage isnt easy to throw at in zone either.
As long as we dont turn the ball over like Publix bakery turnovers we will win. I expect our defense to be in UTs backfield a lot and they are gonna try screens or wide plays to counter....but our defense is too fast for that crap. We keep getting them in third and longs with a lead, its over for them. The defense knows they have to win this game for us and Del Rio.

I like you reel, but I think you've missed the mark on Mark Thompson analysis.
I think our runningbacks in order are
1. Perine
2. Cronk
3. Scarlett
4. Thompson
I've loved what I've seen from Perine and Scarlett in pass pro and from Cronk with his hands out of the backfield. Thompson has been good, but I expected more from him. It's a good problem to have right now though, and I'm extremely excited about all four of them because they all appear to be above average backs that are each very good and can be dangerous. I'd love to see one of them break one off for about 60 though, but you know, it'll come sooner or later.
I'm excited about our running game and the strides our OL have made

Perine to me has looked like the best all around running back, and we've all seen them get enough touches now to have a fair opinion.
They are all pretty good though.

We shall see wont we? I really have been on the Thompson bandwagon since the spring and he isnt 4th out of our four backs...dont get me wrong...I like them all..but Thompson is going to be the man...in my opinion.
We really have to appreciate the recruits we have gotten out of JUCO ranks and expect a few more next January. In the future we wont need many as depth gets filled by quality talent.
You gotta love the frosh playing now on defense...Reese is a load at LB, Zuniga and Polite ditto as pass rushers...Putu came to a crowded house but gets his shot next year. On offense Hammond & Swain are only going to get better...we still need a real blocker/pass catching combo at TE...a 6'5" 255 kinda recruit with an attitude that likes to block.

Zech Byrd is one of our tight end commits. He's 6'6 240 lb.
The way these freshmen are performing on defense are making me feel really good about next years team. We lose NOBODY on offense but our defense is going to get gutted.
With freshman players like Zuniga, Polite, Keivonnis Davis stepping up on the DL, linebackers Vosean Joseph and David Reese (and Moon before the injury), and DBs like Putu, Gardner, and Duke Dawson, I'm excited about the core defense we'll have next year. They'll be young, but they can play.

Honestly, the more I look at this game, and the UF and UT results, I really think UF wins this game going away if they protect the football and we don't have any further red zone shenanigans out of the staff and just take our FGs.
UT only really does 5 plays on offense:
1. Hurd/Kamara up the middle (might mix it up with quick hitter vs counter etc.)
2. Moss Ball to their big WR's running deep routes
3. Quick passes to WR at the LOS on the outside
4. Swing passes to the RBs.
5. QB running around, either by design or for survival
I don't think UF will have any trouble with #1.
Really, they just have to tackle well on 3,4, and 5, and not get beat more than once on the random deep balls that they throw. If they do that, I don't know how UT will score.

Agreed. I can't see us losing if we win the turnover battle. Need to be conservative on O and let our defense wear them down. Our front 7 should be in the backfield all day.

UT is going to use trick plays against us. It worked last year, let's hope it backfires this year.

Dont forget Nick Washington (S) will be a sr next year and CeCe Jefferson is only a soph, ditto Bryan, Jordan Smith & Jordan Sherit will probably be back for sr year...again Marcell Harris will be back as a corner/safety, Khairi Clark as a DL will be a jr next year also. I think we will see a couple of JUCOs fill in the gaps on defense and the good news is that our offense will be better.
