I don't remember being this excited for a football season since Tebow's last season at UF.

Yes, we will struggle at times, but I can't wait to see what UF will do this season. I think we will be better than most people predict and have a shot of winning the East.

I am always excited for UF football. Particularly excited to see what Mac and the new crew can do.

In Mac's first season as a head coach, his team was 4-8 and lost to a division 2 school.

He recruited decently well, considering where he was, and made that offense into something special and took that team two bowl games in the next two years.

I'm thinking next year is going to be painful to watch, because there is only so much he can do with UF's current offensive line and QB situation.

But I'm hopeful that the staff will be decent and UF will at least look better.

Time will tell.

I think we will do better than last season by coaching alone. Most of the pieces are in place...Mac should excel at UF.

I am more excited then I have been since Meyer was the HC. It's going to be interesting to see if the defense will be as good as last year or maybe better if we let Hargreaves play man. The offense could finally be worth watching . Maybe we will see some guys play up to there talent this year. I am hoping we pound the running game to help the young OL and QB kinda like BAMA did when MAC was there.

You know I am wearing orange and blue glasses but I think we will be better and the schedule is part of that opinion. Ole Miss & the girls school don't scare me in the Swamp and I think we take them both...more worried about UK but we should wear them down in 4th qt up in Knoxvegas. UT is UT and they will put up a fight...but Gators prevail. That leaves LSU, Mizzou, UGA and USC...we take 2 of them at least.

Kentucky scares me more than Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Florida State.

When Mac arrived at Alabama, he had 3 all americans on the OL, a 5 star, amazing WR, and two very solid RBs, along with an experienced game manager at QB. He also had 2 very large, and very effective tight ends in Walker and McCall that did a lot of little things for that team.

At UF, he has Drob on the outside, who may end up being as good as Julio Jones, so that piece is in place, and he has Scarlett and Taylor (and maybe LAne) so RB is maybe (MAYBE) just as good as 08 Alabama, but he doesn't have a QB, UF's Oline ISNT EVEN CLOSE to 2008 Alabama, and the defense wont be as good.

We seriously need to temper our expectations here.

I am the least excited I have ever been for a football season. Seriously you people need to lay off the crack and realize just how far behind the elite in college football this program has fallen.

Excited to see a different style of play offensively. It's been a long four years watching Muschamp offenses.

Oh ok. Maybe you havent checked the roster lately. We have two OL that were highly recruited in Sharp and now Ivey, we have RBs Taylor & Scarlett, a top tier recruited QB in Grier on offense. We do have DRob returning and a tight end transfer that lit up the ACC.

On defense we only have the best corner in the country, a loaded secondary that is second to none. LBs Jarrad Davis & Morrison...a top three round pick in the NFL plus a bunch of talented soph heavy LBs.
Along the DL we have a senior who will get picked early in Jon Bullard, Macallister 6'7" DE junior who grew into his body last year, some soph players who were highly recruited. Dont mind stats, but the Gator defense was tough last year and had to overcome an inept offense.

LSU? Im not skeered, Ole Miss? Certainly not. Mizzou? They are prone to play well one week and not the next. USC? Not yet possessing a great defense. UT? Are you kidding KY? I dont use it. Vandy? Gloria lost the tight jean business after too many yeast infections. The girls school? They will have too many problems internally.

Dont know how many years Aesop has awaited a new Gator football season...but I have 53 of them and looked forward to each of them.

I always enjoy your sunshine pumping Reel.

I'm optimistic as well though. None of the teams on our schedule have that great of an offense:

Of the major opponents we play:

at UK: Return Towles who showed flashes last year
UT: Return Dobbs who showed flashes but played against the weaker part of UT's schedule (outside Bama)
Ole Miss: new QB
at Missouri: Return Mauk, has played OK
at LSU: Return Harris and Jennings... neither have looked good
UGA: new QB
Vandy: new qb
at USCe: new qb
FSU: new qb

I think a lot of people concerned about the Gators offense are forgetting how average the SEC's offenses will be this year and how good UF's defense will be. The Gators will probably have the best secondary in the country this year and one of the best DLs in the SEC. If Grier and the OL play just average the Gators should win 7 or 8 games.

First of all let me lead with this:

in 2011-2012, UF's roster was 70% 4 and 5 star players
in 2015-2016, UF's roster will be 41% 4 and 5 star players.

There has been a huge talent drain on the UF roster in the past 2-3 years, especially on offense.

Are there some talented players? Yes. Is UF equal to the best teams in the conference in regards to elite talent? No. Not anymore, and it could get worse before it gets better.

Good lord someone who actually pays attention.

I have 27 years of watching the gators under my belt. You can look forward all you want (and I'm glad you are) but these are likely to be dark years for the gators in both football and basketball. Foley has seriously screwed the pooch and as someone who used to consider him one of our the strongest assets the gator nation has I am extremely disappointed.

I am excited to see us have an offensive pulse. I am also tempered due to being thin on both sides of the LOS. For a coach who continuously called the SEC a "Line of Scrimmage" league, Muschamp really sucked recruiting those positions properly.

Well the terrible luck with injures on the OL didn't help matters either.

Pretty sure the whole not recruiting that position heavily didn't help his tenure.
