Took this from GC.

quote:

This is from the UCF staff writer on the UCF board on TOS. From different sources but sounds like it’s very similar info as was posted above in regards to Frost being UF’s clear #1 choice and Frost being on board whenever the official offer comes. I’m sure no contract will be signed until UCF’s regular season is over but that doesn’t stop Frost’s agent and Stricklin from getting everything worked out in principle so they are ready to move fast when UCF ‘s regular season is done or their conference championship which is December 2nd if they make it.

“So here's the latest I have regarding Frost and the Florida opening...

I've spent today gathering some more info. A source told me Florida has zeroed in on Frost as their top target, and boosters have already been in contract with Frost's representatives, gauging his interest in Florida. I was also told Steve Spurrier, who's a consultant for Florida athletics, gave his blessing to Stricklin on Frost as the top choice. Florida is fearful they could lose Frost to Nebraska if that job comes open. They're going after him immediately. Things could escalate quickly between Florida and Frost. However - if he is offered and accepts the job - I doubt he leaves UCF prior to their potential conference championship game in December.”

I get our fear of Nebraska, but he’s dumb if he doesn’t come here. Every school in the state is a one day round trip when it comes to recruiting. Not to mention the amount of talent here.

So it is said, so it shall be done...

I'm all in for Frost. It's a bit of a flyer but I think he has "it".

I like the idea of a younger HC and the energy it brings, if he is our HC I will support him 100% and cross my fingers.

Dude ran the scout QB position to help his defense.

I love it.

He can't make our offense worse. I mean, I guess is theoretically possible but highly unlikely.

He's gone from +700 on Sunday to -120 today. That's a huge jump for 3 days.

He would be a good choice but I don’t want us to get in a bidding war over him . He is not a sure thing. I think Kiffin is the only one that we know can take the pressure but he has his own faults .

frick Kiffin. He's been fired from three jobs and can't stay away from controversy. He has way, way too much baggage and he won't last five years.

Frost might be a dynasty type of hire, and that's exactly what we need.

We don't need another guy mired in controversy every week, with us wondering what stupid fricking thing he's going to say -- we had enough of that with McElwain.

Mark my words. If we hire Frost, we're looking for another HC in 4 years. How the frick do we keep hiring coaches with no real coaching experience? UF is not the place to learn on the fricking job. Hated the Mcelwain hire and I'll hate this hire even more. Stop looking for an inexperience young guy. Get someone in here who has big boy head coaching experience.

Defensive rankings of the teams ucf has faced so far:
Maryland 80
Memphis 112
Cincinnati 83
ECU 129 (2nd from the bottom)
Navy 43
Austin Peay FCS
Future Opponents:
SMU 94
UCONN 126 (5th from the bottom)
Temple 72
USF 24

Gator Opponents Defensive ranking:
Michigan 4
Tennessee 76
Vandy 78
Kentucky 74
LSU 24
TAMU 53
uga 3

future opponents:
MU 105
SCar 58
UAB 46
f$u 15

Scott Frost has too small a sample size to take over a major program. HUNH will work until a physical team punches that concept in the mouth. Like GN4L says, we'll be looking for a HC in 3-4 years.

They seem to think that well established, championship level coaches are looking to leave their current situation.

They aren't. We have to find the next innovative mind that's the perfect combo of coach and recruiter. I think Frost is that guy. The argument that smash mouth shuts down HUNH is stupid. If we're better at doing what we do than they are at what they do, the system won't be questioned because it will WORK.

We couldn't put up similar offensive numbers against air.

I'll support anyone the administration hires but if it's another hotshot with very little experience, I'll hope for the best, while knowing they fricked up again. UF is not the place for a coach to learn on the job. I think we need someone proven, that has coached at a P5 or NFL. We need a coach that has had to deal with the crazed media and at a place where expectations are very high. I think we need a coach that has made mistakes and have learned from them. I think it should be someone that has had to coach at least a couple places or been in one place for at least 4 or 5 years. UF should not have to take risky hires. We need a sure thing, proven winner. We should never have to take a flyer on a young coach, especially in football, especially when the last 3 with little experience ALL FAILED. This program is at a critical juncture. We're talking about almost a decade of mediocrity where fan apathy is real.

Look at Urban Meyer as a blueprint. He turned around a bad Bowling Green program and immediately made them significantly better. Then he took a Utah program in disarray and immediately turned them around as well. If Frost had taken an Akron or some other school and turned them around THEN took UCF too, I would have more faith in him as a coach. Turning around 1 program in a year and a half doesn't do it for me YET... Especially at UCF where O'Leary routinely won 10+ games. We're talking UCF. Please name me one quality win that Frost has as a coach?? ONE?

I think there's a lot of coaches out there that fits the bill of experienced winner, turn around programs. I like Strong and Kiffin but I don't care who it is as long as they're proven and HAVE EXPERIENCE. I'm done with experiments but that's just me.
