Expected to split snaps the first few games.
Just getting this thread out of the way for when it inevitably comes.

Mullen has stated that the starter named will not be subbed much at all and he will be the starter unless he throws 7 picks in one game.
My homeboy from Tampa Robsinson High has the pic record secured in a vault...1969 @ AU when we were both undefeated teams. 9 picks John Reaves threw that day.

Reel when Mullen says something positive about Trask:
Well doggone it he's just trying to motivate Franks.
Reel when Mullen says he won't play multiple Quarterbacks:
I'll take him at his word.

Well..............like I said, whoever the starter is, go Gators!

if he really is the starter and he's actually good, mullen should be known as the best qb whisperer in the world.

I don't care if Daffy Duck is the QB...but in Mullens own presser he was asked if he would have QBs play besides the starter (and maybe unseat the starter)...his words were to the effect : once we name a starter he will be the starter period going forward. And of course if anyone falters badly another QB should come in.
But I will remind the board that Danny Heisman was benched several times by Spurrier. That turned out ok.
Franks was almost ruined by Mac & Nuss. He wasn't ready first of all and he was almost 6'6" and weighed 215. He needed another year and a better S&C program. Right now he is a team leader and players love him. Last year is history and we will see what 2018 is like.

This is the one thing universally that all UF fans should agree on.
The S&C program under McElwain was a fricking joke.

I knew it would happen for months. He always charms everyone in camp, but we'll see what happens when he's actually on the field.
Similarly, they'll all get their chances on the field. We can't have two backup QBs with no experience.
But when he doesn't make it to game 7, I'll keep this thread in mind.

I know, but I was just pointing out that I've said it and made this thread before it even broke. I hope I'm wrong and that he finds himself in one of the three tune up games.

You’re certainly on the record about what you think of Franks
Hopefully you’re wrong and he is successful. That’s what would be best for Gator football, which is ultimately what we all want

My fear and Mullens is that Jones would bail out on us. He is a true frosh. Hopefully he can understand what can happen in a game. None of us should want Franks injured, I am crossing fingers and toes.
What bothers me the most is the report that Savage had to berate Trask & Jones coming out of the locker room late. I think I know why...it want easy for them to see the team gravitate to Franks as a leader. They've known or suspected the outcome for a while. We need two QBs recruited for our next class. Injuries happen in SEC football.

Wow, mindless speculation at its best. Savage didn't berate anyone, he told them to come earlier at the water tank. It's on film.
As for the leadership aspect: Win games, people will follow. Unless you're Treon Harris and the team elects you ahead of an NFL QB while you go to an FCS to play WR.

Straws I GUESS you know that Franks was one of six players named to the leadership council back in January?
Blow it out your tailpipe.

Who gives a frick if he's a good leader if he can't do his job, reel? "Well at least he's got a nice personality." That shite is white noise. It's worthless. I don't care how charismatic he is.
He gets it done on the field or doesn't, period. Peyton Manning has the leadership capacity of a yam, but players follow winners.
This idea that he's a good Quarterback because he says what you want him to say is such a silly argument.

That has literally nothing to do with how well he can read a defense.
I want him winning the "I can play QB" award.
It's all fun and games and shite in the off season. The only thing that matters once the bullets start flying is whether or not you can make a read and complete key passes when it matters.
Leadership is important, sure, but it doesn't mean shite if you can't play.

Water under the bridge but really makes you question why we didn’t go after Burrow.
