Not quite. Miami’s hope is a Muschampian style game plan where their front 7 dominates our OL to the point that we can’t even scheme around it. I don’t see our OL unit being THAT bad and I don’t see Mullen not being able to scheme around the OL (if they are overmatched) against someone he is so familiar with.

And then they also have to find a way to score on us. I just don’t see it happening.

I mean, if our OL is bad, imagine the absolute dogshit that they have to fix in one off-season. Our guys at least have time in our current system and have worked together more or less.

Their OL might literally be patchwork transfers (I think two of the starting 5 are transfers) and basically whoever doesn't suck the most.

Expecting Dan Enos pretty much by himself to fix the QB and OL in one off-season better than Mullen who has been doing this with Hevesy and Gonzales for 19 years is a kinda chicken little thinking by our fans.

I just counted frosh on the 2003 roster...34 frosh and includes some redshirts...that is a high percentage for an 85 man roster. I might have missed a few frosh because I thought some were walk ons and didn't count them and we did NOT have a loaded team roster that year. One of our best WRs was Carlos Perez and he certainly didn't make all star lists.

Chad Jackson and a few other good wideouts were frosh and became better with snaps the following years. We had a lot of underclassmen that year...mostly brought in by Zook, who was the asst coach who really did a lot of recruiting for Spurrier.

18 of our starters are upperclassmen. There may be a starter here or there who is replaced, but that is insane.

18 of 22.

This is a new year.

You win with upper class men as a rule. The biggest leap I have ever seen a UF defense make was 2008 after we were had only 2 returning starters on defense after the 2006 BSC title in 2007. If not for Tebow carrying the 2007 team, we could have been easily 6-6.

As much of an optimist I am/was...I didn't think we would contend for another title until 2009...I was wrong.

Upperclassmen 100% improve the quality of play if only because they are far more developed than others. One of the things I like from Mullen is that while the uppers start, that doesn't mean other players don't play. In the 4th Quarter when the teams are exhausted, we have guys like Pierce who is basically a bowling ball with legs.

It's nice, because I'm sure they appreciate the touches and playing time and I hope he continues to do this in the future.

That really has nothing to do with the game coming up though...not a single coach was on the sidelines in any of those games(except the one we won), and not a single player. Historically coaches struggle year one. Manny is a new head coach. Him coming out of the gates that well is highly unlikely. Especially with the lacking talent he has and the Oline and QB issues.

I personally witnessed UF beatdowns at the hands of Miami in the Sugar and Peach bowls. Remember Charlie Strong’s atrocious head coaching performance? I will never take the Canes lightly.

I hate ‘em. But I still respect ‘em.

We all personally witnessed FSU beating us for six years straight, never beating Michigan (ever) and Kentucky losing for over 30 years.

Streaks don't mean shite. This is a new year, new teams, new coaches.

What are y’all expecting? A heavy dose of screens and quick passes? What is the U gonna run on O?

Miami

Offensive line is broken.
QB has never played.
New staff.
New offensive philosophy. (Looks like a pro-style.)

Expected: Lots of running, short passes.

Florida

Offensive line is being played with.
Returning QB with two years of starting experience.
Staff in their second year.
Same offensive philosophy. (Power Spread)

Expected: Slants, unorthodox screens, misdirection, a lot of running.

The MSST game plan is probably coming, but I think Franks looks way more comfortable throwing downfield -- I just don't know if he'll have a ton of time.

The run game opens up long passes...run the ball 6, 7 and 8 yds on first down and safetys + LBs get sucked in. Fake hand off and throw deep...the DBs will react to the fake just a split second and WR runs free.

We wont throw too many times unless we cant run well.
