Chris Leak was maligned in a similar way

I don’t know how old Straws is, so he might not recall this bit of history. But everyone was knocking Chris Leak his junior and senior year. Everyone wanted Tebow - but DAN MULLEN knew he wasn’t ready for prime time.
If it wasn’t for Chris, we don’t win a BCS title in ‘06. I was there when he put the team on his shoulders in a rainy Doak and drove us to the winning score in the 4th qtr.
Felipe will bounce back, just like Chris did. Trask might not be ready for the big show. Dan can tell.

"Franks will bounce back." When?
I said last year when he started over Luke Del Rio, wait.
I was right then.
I told people to chill out with the expectations this year.
I told people not to take Franks' early success out of context.
People were talking about how he was almost tied with TD passes with Tua, I said wait.
I was right. People told me I didn't know what I was talking about, trust Dan Mullen, he knows more than I do -- and I agree. He is much better at identifying and developing Quarterbacks than I ever will be, no matter how much time I put into it. I have more of a chance at being a Rock Star than I do of even being worthy enough to be on Dan Mullen's staff.
That being said: That doesn't mean Dan Mullen can't be arrogant, it doesn't mean that he can't play favorites, it doesn't mean that his own hubris can blind him to what's obvious to many people -- former Quarterbacks, former coaches, former players in general, those who were on the team with Feleipe (there were multiple).
So here's the thing: When I predict Trask is a better downfield passer than Franks and it happens, that's not luck. When I predict that Franks is going to get absolutely shut down by year's end because he is far too easy to gameplan, that's not luck. When I say that Trask will eventually take over for Franks, that's not luck.
I put in a lot of time and effort into reading into Florida Quarterbacks. That's why when Driskel got stomped into the ground on this forum I stood up for him, I knew he was talented, but wasn't in the right system.
It's not luck that I called out Trask being over his star rating three fricking years ago.
One of the biggest positives I had about Trask was his accuracy and ability to throw downfield. It's not luck.
So please, stop calling me out with threads. Stop pretending like I literally didn't predict these things with great accuracy. Literally, the only way I could have made my predictions more accurate is telling you which game Kyle would have taken over in.

Leak was so much better than Franks and Trask isn't a true freshman. This is a completely ridiculous comparison

You are seriously comparing Felipe Franks to Chris Leak?
Leak as a true freshman nearly beat a super talented Miami team in Coral Gables, he beat #1 LSU on the road with some clutch plays, and he should've beat FSU at home if not for the stupid refs.
I'm not gonna even go on after his freshman year, because this comparison is dumb.

If your point is just that "back-up QB is always the most popular player," sure. But Leak was a good QB with less-than-average physical traits and Franks is a bad QB with above-average physical traits. They're pretty much opposites

I'd watch a 30 for 30 on Leak's post-UF implosion. Would make for some good TV

shite I even forgot Leak leading a 21-3 come back against Kentucky in Lexington on the road.

Bro Chris threw a damn near perfect looking ball. He had issues, but he isn’t nearly as bad as Franks.
I agree with letting Jones sit and learn in the long run. But Franks is not Chris Leak.
