No I wouldn't
Commitments meant much more 5 years ago then they do today with NIL everyone know that. Just look at all the D-lineman that were committed and they all left.
So now it's all about what school is the highest bidder
So it will not be a surprise to see many ups and downs now in recruiting

kirby attempting a flip is inevitable. why would he let an in-state 4* OL go to an out of state school? especially a rival.
it's only February. December is a long way away.

Jermamiah McCloud committed earlier today. 3 star DL out of Mississippi. Seems to have a ton of upside and an offer sheet that includes UGA, FSU, LSU and USC. Seems like a guy who will end up a 4 star.

No clue if this kid is any good.
Edited: just realized he’s in the 2026 class

Not a big deal Florida will have plenty of other options at WR.

Why do I feel like there won’t be any recruits left by the end of the season. Fawcett keeps blowing up my phone with commit announcements.

Our only hope for this recruiting class is starting off hot on the field and our boosters diverting potential buy out funds towards NIL.
Corey Bender just released his mock class, and its horrendous with the exception of WR:
If Billy doesn't quickly prove it on the field this year, it is time to cut bait and hope the next guy can reload quickly in the portal. Being stuck in football purgatory is the worst possible thing that can happen to a program, and we are already in our third year (going on 4th if you count Mullen's last year) of it.
That type of class is basically a transition class anyway, at that point you might as well make it a true transition class.

I'd even say 5th year.
Despite the historically good offense 2020 was a shite show and embarrassment of a year.
Going 8-4 with that offense is a bad year imo.

I won't disagree there. It's definitely been way too long.

I think some of the big money people are holding back some to see if Napier is going to get past 2024 or not.

I agree 100%. Why would anyone spend money on players a new coaching staff potentially would not want or value as highly. Plus if we had a new coaching staff, they would probably want to attack the portal hard.
That doesn't even get into the buyout for Napier and salary for a new coaching staff.
I know there are a lot of chicken littles who get very concerned about NIL, but we don't sign Lagway and McCray if we aren't competitive in that area. Also, transfers like Badger were evidently extremely expensive. The bigger thing is the guys with money aren't stupid and want to make sure they aren't throwing good money after bad at this point.

We can get NIL
Money
We’re not fricking Toledo, NM State , or ULL type program (despite what the UAA thinks)
People don’t buy in on the HC
Plain and simple
Not saying Lane would be spurrier 2.0 but he’s got the ole Miss fans bought in
And they are doing well in talent acquisition despite their limitations
