The DL I will need to see to believe, I think they'll be really good but I just need to see these units working together. It's crazy how many players are back, though, especially in the secondary.

I just don't think we have a lot to worry about this year but as I said:

Next year we will need to fit in some people because we have some glaring depth problems.

In 2020 we return: Campbell as a senior, Zach Carter as a jr, Conliffe + Slaton + Dunlap + Moon as seniors to give us a decent core on the DL. And I don't expect any of them to leave early.

LBers will have Brunson + Burney + Miller + Houston as juniors and Chatfield + Diabate + Pierre as sophs.

DBs will have Edwards + Lenton + # 12 + Stewart + Stiner + as seniors, then we have Dean + Huggins + Wilson (if he doesn't have impact year) as juniors then we have Jaydon Hill as soph. Obviously a need to have depth developed, but DBs can be counted on to play early as true frosh if they have skillset. Kimbrough & Elam will see the field some for sure.

Bogle, Summerall & Hopper will also see time at LB.

Our pressing need is DTs and a few more DBs and WRs with one or two LBers. Mullen and staff will try to get recruits with PT as the carrot. OL is not a priority after signing seven, just need one or two more tops and shoot for four elites for the next class.

I really hope our rushing defense takes a step forward. If we can stop the run?

Those offenses are going to be throwing at Wilson, Dean and Henderson along with two safeties with a ton of experience. I like our chances.

I wish we could of grabbed like 5 JUCO defensive tackles and hoped that 2 of them planned out.

We have never done real well with JUCOs and UF is tough on academics before any of them can step on campus.

Compare that to Kansas State where half the damn team seems like they are JUCOs. If you have a pulse you can get into a bunch of schools....USF (although its slightly tougher now) and Miss State come to mind.

Two prevailing thoughts come into play, one, a player admitted with borderline grades could turn out as a good citizen and prosper...two, a recruit who cant spell cat probably isn't going to cut it.

We will be ok at DT, can always get a transfer to supplement depth. The thing to remember is that we usually only have two true DTs on the field at a time and we sub a lot to keep fresh legs...so its not like we need a of DTs except to have experience in 2021-22. Elite DTs go fast and then you have to research and find a gem or two.

There are also guys like Zach Carter that can slide into a 3 tech for pass rush situations and probably dominate a guard or center.
We have enough guys I believe and based on last years 4th quarter games, they will be in shape. Even Khairi Clark was moving well.

Remember that the DTs job is to take up space and keep Ol from getting to the second level where they can block our LBs.

Our offense will make the defense look better also. 2019 will see another step forward for Franks who will have damn good receivers and RBs who can make life easier. I think we will see a more mature Franks who will have a calm demeanor and that alone should make his skillset better. Scoring points will put pressure on opponents.

This may sound far fetched to some, but Playoff Contender is where we should end up. But to win a NC that Perine covets, we are going to have to buck a trend. NCs were won in even years, 1996, 2006 and 2008. Now we are in an odd year....hmmmm.

Commitments from 3* OLs Mincey and Janvier recently.

Mincey was heavily targeted by FSU. Like a top 10 guy on FSU's board.

Janvier was as high as 9 OG at one point.

Both are big bodies. Just the kind of heavy handed maulers that Hevesy and Savage will mold into DL worst nightmares.

OLB Derek Wingo flips to Florida from Penn State.

This was considered a failure by the staff for not getting him.

Reloading.....Wingo's family are a class act. Mom & Dad were Nole fans and made a one day visit to UF after son decommitted from Penn State. Fell in love with the coaching staff, the education and Wingo felt a closeness to the players he met.

Updated the list and reassessed in what direction our 3-stars were going.

Stars, bars, cars....DGAF, I keep reminding myself that a top five overall NFL pick was Josh Allen of UK and a 2 star. Stoops developed him into a beast.

It amazes me on another site when players like Graham decide to become Gators and immediately there is a collective yawn because they aren't top 100 players.

Mullen is low key and doesn't push for commitments. He wants the right players that fit. A lot of 5 star recruits are six star headcases that think they are entitled to be treated differently. A certain cornerback comes to mind.

When dads start to interfere with what they think should happen with their sons...usually nothing good will happen. Meddling with coaches decisions is a crooked street leading nowhere.

We really need the firepower, though. I think the difference between 3 and 4 stars is their development time. We're going to be down two CBs after this year for sure and after our current backups we're going to need some great players who A. don't mind waiting and B. are still pretty good. (At least at that position.)

I don't care about stars if our positions are already filled out -- Mullen can fricking turn a 2* Quarterback into a starter for the NFL. Furthermore, I think he's got the right idea, but the problem as I've said over and over again is:

Time.

People want results too quickly now, and even with the results of last year they'll point out embarrassing losses to Kentucky and Missouri along with hated Georgia. He has to go 2 - 1 against them this year and keep recruiting monsters.

Winning solves a lot of things and I am of the belief we will win enough to be in the SECCG. Recruits are going to notice and want to play for Mullen.

We loaded up the OL and we have a need for another safety, LB, RB, WR and especially DT or a DE who can gain weight to move inside. Class of 2021 should be special.
