We play South Carolacky tonite (Wed) @ 6:30 on ESPN 2 I believe and need to keep the train rolling.
UT lost last night to Ole Miss after leading by 11 points with about 9 minutes left in the game...a real head scratcher after beating Kansas and Vols were ranked 11th ion the polls.

Here's hoping we can keep up the intensity we have been playing with over the last few weeks. Mike White is 3-5 vs South Carolina including 1-2 at the O'Dome. That needs to improve.

Either this team can't handle success, or this team can't take physical play. Either way it doesn't bode well for the post season. The little 4 game win streak got me excited, but this is a typical Mike White team that will end up an 8 seed and maybe win one game in the tourney.
I will admit that it is more fun watching this team than the last 2 years of slow it down basketball, so that is a plus.
Frank Martin owns Mike White, and Frank Martin sucks. So that ain't good for Mike White.

Arkansas pushed us around in the 1st half to build a lead and when they needed to in the 2nd half to get the win today. Our last 4 games are as such:

I don't know that a split of these games would get us in the tourney since we have only won 10 games. I guess we will see.
We shot 37% from the field and 19% from 3. However we were 14/14 from the free throw stripe tonight, so it was clearly their defense that made us shoot poorly.

I'm letting the season fully play out till speaking on White more. Though I think most besides Forever are skeptical at this point.

Unfortunately covid has ravaged our season the 3 big wins for this team LSU @WEST VIRGINIA & Blowing out tenner may get them in unless they completely collapse in these last 4 games they will have to win 3. And refuse to play in conference tournament.
They were in the top 25 before this second covid out break and losing to SC was bad and then 2 weeks before they played another game did not help the situation.
So this season is basically a wash. Next year is the true show me season if he has another disappointing season next year then its time to cut ties with white and go in a different direction.

He has finished in the top 25 once. That season is the outlier and I feel we should be a top 25 program more times than not. There is always the injury excuse. People said the same thing about Will Muschamp, whose teams also had lots of injuries. Personally, I am much closer to not caring at all about basketball anyway. It is becoming too much like the NBA for my taste.

So.....you want to fire a coach that has won 20 games every year except this year which happens to be during a pandemic, and after losing the team's best player for the season? I give him a pass for this year but have a short leash for next year.

He got there with Billy's players. With his teams he has been absolutely average. It is insane that they never improve. Ever. Just the same team from the start to the end of the year. Same team the following year. He has zero ability to adjust and lacks so severely in developing. Making the tourney is an expectation here...not a "give this man an extension" achievement. Excuses are the same and every year it will be next year. We just got whipped in the 2nd round because Tenn is way better developed and way better coached..that simple. If you raanked SEC coaches he is not even in the top half..which is not good enough at UF.

This is repeated every year.
He is basically our Mike Anderson. Arkansas kept him 8 seasons before realizing they were getting nowhere. Mike White is too nice and his teams are soft because of it. Tennessee got a little physical with us today and Payne got so frustrated he threw an elbow and got kicked out of the game. Mentally weak.

This. Mike White supporters can’t seem to understand this. They’re happy with losing 12-16 games a year and just barely making the tournament. We know what good basketball looks like and this is not anywhere close to it. I used to get excited after football season knowing basketball season was just beginning...now, I just look forward to baseball season because I know we have a coach that knows what the hell he’s doing and that we have a shot to win championships every year. That should be the goal, shouldn’t it, to win championships? Smh Fire Mike White

The retort will be "championships every year is delusion" instead of addressing what was meant by it. When defending average you have to reach sadly. I agree. It's very hard going into each year wondering if "we finally see improvement" instead of "can we finish in the top ten and make a deep run"...because at this point I think any realistic fan expects no better than a six seed and prays we can even finish in the top 25..which he can't seem to do. Donovan had bad years sure..but his good years were incredible. He also showed the ability to adapt throughout his career and develop talent. I can understand tempering expectations a little because of how remarkable Billy was, but not to the point of being average as the norm. Who in the SEC would trade coaches with us? USCe maybe? Vandy? Aggies? I mean he is likely not considered in the top eight SEC coaches at this point if ranking them...that's not good enough.

He didn't win 20 games last year. Now maybe he would have had the tournament been played, but certainly no guarantee we get anymore than the 19 we had considering how poorly that team was playing.
This 4 year stretch is the worst by winning % since Kruger/Donovan transition. Haven't gotten close to a conference title. It's been a regression since the E8 run. I was on the wait til next year train, but it seems inevitable at this point with the likely departures.

Winning 20 games is not that impressive if that's one of your top claims. That is a minimum requirement at best. Donovan after his first two seasons of building had one season under 20 wins. That is not an accomplishment. That is making a bowl game in CFB basically. A meaningless accomplishment.

After the last few losses and lack of effort by the players it may be time for a change.
