I look at this year coming up as a building year. Record won't matter to me much. Build up the future. Get young guys in. Get the system in place. Figure things out. Year two record will matter more.

After watching EJ last night, Mullen will have to do some serious coaching up to have him ready to the Man come September.

He might, but also remember that EJ received the fewest snaps and almost never got the chance to throw the ball last night. It was kind of ridiculous, honestly, but I don't think you can take anything away from guys running a completely new offense with new players in one week and have them look really good.

The only QBs who did well were those that could actually run the ball, all of the throws were kind of like ''meh''. I don't like these games because they really don't showcase anything but we think they do.

Hey I'm too damn old to wait too much longer for glory days to begin again !!

Starting a true frosh QB is a recipe for a 4 loss season imo. But we have to trust the coaches. I was very disappointed to hear Mac calling on Franks to start meatchicken game....I knew he wasn't ready. Franks will need to add 25 lbs and get serious weight room workouts to be able to play SEC football. That and learn to keep eyes downfield and feet settled.

Let's have a little fun.

List the five recruits you want badly in this class, that we are in decent shape to get. I won't add Surtain I feel like he is an LSU lock...but would love to get him.

1. Petit-Frere - Still the CB leader but it's very unsure. We seem as likely as anyone though right now.

2. Quay Walker - Love this kid. Trey Dean seems sold.
Hopefully it comes true really need a player like him.

3. Barnes or Gouraige - Would take either. Both would make me horny for a week

3. Justin Watkins - Could fit the Harvin role in the offense. Copeland is awesome, but I think he could fit a role we don't have. Toney is close, but top end isn't as good I think.

4. Barnes or Gouraige - Would take either. Both would make me horny for a week

5. Jacob Copeland - Just because...amazing player obviously

Man, shite, I don't even know. I can't do a top 5 because I just want guys who will get the job done. Watching the UAAA, I realized that you can't really tell shite (especially on the offensive line) about a recruit until he's playing in college.

For me:

1. Griffin.

2. Quay Quay.

3. Any highly rated OL.

4. Copeland/Watkins.

5. Chatfield.

Frere in the UA game, I expected better quickness...hard to coach that. Can the player step up against better competition? LT is a spot where you have to be quick and keep your QB upright, size is not as much of a factor as much as quickness, wing span and arm strength to push off and redirect pass rushers.

As good as he is touted, he should probably r/s as should most all OL, since it is the hardest to learn and compete with SEC pass rushers. The trend now is to play frosh...but with Ivey coming back a frosh ticketed to play LT can learn. We have a lot of upperclassmen on the OL , so we better load up the next two years.

E. Jones impresses me with the intangibles. Pitts looked good watching the few times he was on the field, footwork was decent. Dean is going to be a damn good one.

These all star games give coaches a chance to evaluate the few uncommitted players (or commits of other schools) against the cream of the crop and diamonds in the rough are sometimes found.

Going to be long time before we have football again after Monday...sigh.

Pitts is going to be a very good TE for us. He isn't talked about enough in our class, but he should be. Highly rated for a TE. Seems to have all the intangibles.

As for Frere he seemed very impressive to me. Yes a bit slow but he could move to Guard and be immediately impactful. Then move out to tackle once his footwork improves off the first step to make up for being a little slower.

Welcome to the board, man.

That's as good a list as any. We have a ton of recruits coming on campus soon, and honestly, I can't wait. It'll be interesting to see how we close out -- and we'll be able to adjust our class by adding in Van Jefferson and Grimes.

Barnes is pretty much the only one that played in that game that Florida has a shot at.

Copeland is a master troll, but I think he and Emory bonded pretty well. I was losing a lot of hope with him coming back to the class, but every week seems to look more and more positive.
