unless it's the playoff, pretty much all coaches leave for new jobs before the bowl games nowadays.

Do you guys think this affects WR Chase? Not sure if he is the committed to school or coach type.
Posted on 10/30/17 at 1:07 pm to AllDawgCK
This is complete speculation but: I think the recruits already have a good idea of who is coming. Every single one of them posted the same thing on Twitter. It was just bizarre to see them all say the same thing, so I think they're still pretty solid.
We were told that Corral was one of the shadiest commits we have, and that turned out false. I've been hearing that Chase and Copeland are going to decommit and they never did.
The promises won't be changed, and it just depends on who comes to Florida as HC I think.

Most seemed committed to your school. The ones that said no comment or no interview makes ya wonder tho. Guess we shall see. I wouldn't be mad if we could get Chase out of this. I also wonder tho if the whole death threat thing will make certain top coaching prospects back off.

I highly doubt it -- I think McElwain kind of made his own bed with that.
From that perspective: He put the University in a relaly, really tough position beacuse they had never heard of the ''death threats'' prior to that meeting -- making them liable for the students if something should happen.
When those claims were unfounded, that sort of stuck the dagger in his gut. The reason he accepted a lower buyout is because they probably ended up telling him: Hey, you can go ahead and try to sue us for the money, waste at least 3 years of your life stuck in court and spend (potentially) a few million dollars and end up with what you're going to get now.
McElwain fricked himself with that comment.
As for the players saying no comment: Corral the top recruit (and that's what he said) and he also actively recruited both Chase and Copeland. I'm not saying with 100% he is the only reason, but he always seems to be connected in one way or another (and he personally said that he was asking guys to come to Florida) to a player that commits.
Chase might decommit, but I think he'll wait to see who the HC is, as will most of the other guys.

If my boss got fired, I wouldn't quit on the spot, and I wouldn't say anything negative about the situation.
But I would definitely start taking calls from recruiters.
That's how these things work. There will be a handful of kids that will go to Florida no matter what. There will be a handful who go elsewhere because they don't like what happened. A third group will wait and watch and listen. The third group is what makes or breaks a transition class

You asked a question and got an answer. I don't know what else to tell you: They seem to be committed to the school. I expect a few people to drop off, but like I said:
The promises will not change going forward, and if we get a homerun hire (Frost, Mullen, Kelly) they'll probably all end up staying.
McElwain, outside of Del Rio and Franks, doesn't seem to have rubbed anyone the right way.

no doubt, but they wanna see who's next. they also don't "work" for UF yet. just in the pipeline, so not a good analogy.

A reasonable take.
Also, I didn't ask the question. Not all Dawg posters are the same.
Unless you want me to start blaming you for all of TJGator's posts. Hahaha

You're all the same to me, goddamn it. My bad, man.
You guys should get some Avatars. Sorry.
Posted on 10/30/17 at 3:15 pm to StrawsDrawnAtRandom
Always on mobile. Avatars are meaningless to me.
FYI Jamarr Chase on an official to Athens this weekend. I don't think we have room for him in the class without dropping a current commitment though.

We're losing our #1 WR while Swain and Hammond are not playing at near the level we want them to.
Well, depends on who's coming in, too. I have no idea right now, I hope it's Frost and if it is, we know that both Chase and Copeland will get copious playing time.

How strange that we would get a commit after what all is going on -- I almost feel like the recruits know something we don't.
Posted on 11/5/17 at 4:29 pm to StrawsDrawnAtRandom
it may be in bethel's best interest to commit BEFORE we get another coach.

W. Barnes wants Frost at UF
Why would an uncommitted OL care who we get or feel the need to say this?
