My son has had Xbox for quite some time but has been asking to switch to PS4 because that is what most of his buddies play on. He plays with them on PC as well but has been bugging for a PS4, worth the wait for the next generation or at least Black Friday?

If it's what his friends play. You can play any XBOX games on PC. PS4 deals will be cheap this year with the new systems announced, find a good holiday deal and make the boy happy.

It's useless to own an Xbox. Everything on Xbox is on PC now.

Get him a PS now if that is what his buds play.

$199 should be the going price for a PS4 during Black Friday. It’s possibly not going to be a big deal in the next generation considering that Fortnite and CoD both became cross-platform.

PS controller

Not that bad. But okay. Not an Xbox controller. Xbox controllers are the best.

interface sucks

The Xbox interface is slow garbage.

I don't know why everyone thinks PS4 controllers suck.. the only part of it that sucks is the charging port and it's only an issue playing on PC (for me anyway) since I don't use Bluetooth and have to have it plugged in. I have to frequently uninstall the drivers and re-plug it in and it typically fixes any constant disconnects for a few weeks. I also use it with DS4Windows which is awesome because I customize the rumble to 200% (default was really weak IMO) and can set the lightbar to any color I want.

You should be fine buying a PS4 this late in the game. Sony will continue to support it for a long time. There are too many in the wild for them to abandon any time soon.

I would consider buying an external USB HDD also.

They aren't bad, just Xbox controllers are better.

The problem I have with PS4 controllers is ergonomics. My hands start to hurt/cramp after long sessions.

No.

Switch out internal HDD for larger capacity SSD. If cost is an issue, replace internal HDD with larger capacity.

I was looking at a 1TB Pro system so hopefully that will give him enough storage for a bit.

Oh they come with 1TB now? Didn't know.

I've have/had 2 Pros. Both came with 500GB HDDs. One was a launch unit and the other the updated quieter 7300 I believe which came in the RDR2 bundle.

Edt: I take that back. I think my newer one came with a 1TB. Switched it out for a 500GB SSD.

Mine was 500 GB’s and I took it out and replaced with a 2TB drive. One of the best decisions I’ve made.

Just know that if you do that it voids the warranty.

I'm getting confused with images in my head.

Just cleaned out the garage and threw away my OG PS4, OG Pro and New Pro boxes. I see that 500GB graphic and the 1TB graphic in my head.
