The thing that I am most intrigued by/excited about this season is this new staff. You go look at the post game from Kingston. Gone are the days of the cuck responses of "we'll learn from this blah blah blah. Kingston said eff that. "We should have won that game. If we face anyone in the nation on a Sunday and hold them to 4 runs, we should win that game." He also said that how the pitching works out this week is TBD. He was pissed and some asses are about to get chewed.

Chad Holbrook would have blamed the fans for the loss.

Good! I missed all that yesterday but was hoping he was pissed.

I wanna see him kicking over tables and throwing chairs after losses like yesterday.

Holbrook's typical reaction to a loss.

Unrelated side note: anyone know where one can purchase this hat?

EDIT: I'm an idiot. Bookstore website has them.

I agree, although CMK did say that we'd learn from it, at the start, LOL. But your point is true: he didn't care to talk positively about winning the series, or even reflect on the Fri. and Sat. games. He was upset about not sweeping CSU yesterday, and felt that we should have.

He sounds like a good coach at developing a proper collective attitude for the program, as a national powerhouse. Hopefully the team responds in a good way from it the rest of the season.....

Yeah ... I've got all the hats this year. Got them at Adams.

Pretty bad 6-4 loss today to Furman, who got out-scored 40-6 in their previous 4 games to NC State and Clemson. They handled us pretty good though. We now play Clemson next, and I'm not too optimistic about that series' outcome.....

Today was definitely a wake-up call.

Holbrook holdover syndrome. Hitters looked baffled and weak and impatient and frustrated.

Kingston was rightfully pissed after the game. Hell, he was pissed during the game. Batters missed some calls and he ate their asses out.

The 3 errors in the first 3 innings told me the team didn't have their game faces on for Furman. And the fact that the bats struggled against a team coming in for a mid-week game with a 6+ ERA didn't help either. I was really expecting the team to romp today, not struggle.....

It was a combination of a lot of things. Yes the hitting was worse than it has been, but regardless of the team, if a pitcher can throw off speed stuff for strikes, he's not gonna give up a lot of runs. Pitchers in the last 2 games have taken the approach that has been used against Carlos Cortes all season and applied it to our entire team.

The pitching wasn't very good. There were innings in which the pitching was fine, but when it went bad, it went very bad. Demurias got manhandled last night. Yes it was a tough situation coming in with runners at the corners but in his sole inning of work he gave up a triple, a sac fly and 2 singles. All of this against the guy who was meant to be our big closer. We got him from UF for God's sake.

It was a perfect storm of clusterfrickery that led to a disappointing defeat.

I'm still hungover from it. It was a horrible fricking loss. Embarrassing even.

Not to hijack the thread, but what do you guys thing about how the series is formatted with Clemson? For me, it’s not terrible, but I would much prefer just doing 3 home, 3 away, rotate home team annually like all other sports.

I prefer both to the 4 game mid weeks.

Don’t kill me for this guys, yes I’m a Clemson fan, but I don’t think I’ve ever tried to get into the back and forth with y’all. I have never and will never post Clemson shite on this board. I also hate Tillman just as much as y’all, if not more.

Buuutttt, as a CofC alumni, how do y’all think Holbrook will do down here? All of the prior players were pissed as shite that we didn’t try for Foxhall, including Brett Gardner himself. He spearheaded a letter to our AD signed by over 100 ex-players to boycott the choice.

I normally stand in right field with a bunch of ex-players but that turnout has been noticeably less already.

I’m cautiously optimistic about recruiting and maybe the smaller atmosphere will be better for him?

CofC has had several great teams, hell should’ve made the CWS a few years ago but lost 1-0 both games to Texas Tech at their super. But I think the expectations for CofC ball should be regionals every year no matter what, a few supers sprinkled in, and maybe finally making it to the CWS.

That’s not too much to ask of the guy right?

ETA: sorry Garnet Way, I wouldn’t have posted had I seen your post. I think we were typing at the same time. I don’t want to hijack the thread again and will delete if y’all want.

rooster have you heard anything re: the baseball team. In a thread over on 247 there was talk about the culture inside the program and whittle had this to say, it wasn't a VIP thread so I don't feel bad for sharing.

quote:

The bulk of the position players are out of here after this season anyway. At least seven, probably eight guys. I can see a couple more seeing the writing on the wall that they aren't going to play much here. That doesn't even address the pitching staff. Probably five guys from there gone as well, and a couple more who realize they aren't going to play here. I don't think he's going to have to perform a lot of roster turnover.
