I need some help everyone. Maybe a little motivation.

After getting dropped by Auburn, then getting swept by UGA, and not getting a FB recruit commit in a while, we've been void of great news for a while. Besides beating clemson in baseball its been a rough month or three. With FB far away and Basketball over (officially because no NIT invite ((wtf)) ) what do we have to look forward to?

Hoping baseball turns it around. We looked rough on the games I watched. Pitching isnt as deep, and hitting is seriously all or nothing.

TL; DR - frick last weekend, Still go gamecocks, just need something optimistic

10-11 games left of NHL regular season. Playoffs start up soon. Literally one of the most exciting sports in the world, crazy that more folks don't watch it.

Take a break from Carolina for 2 weeks, it'll be there when you get back.

Pretty fun couple months for sports really coming up.
Along with the nice weather you got the tourney, baseball season, the masters, Kentucky Derby, NBA and NHL Playoffs, champions league final, if you’re into women’s sports the women’s World Cup

And as soon as you know it it’s August and football is back

I'm an Islanders fan and we actually look good this year somehow. Apparently you can lose your best player and get better somehow. Pretty cool. Im a clippers fan for NBA so we'll get that 8 seed and lose pretty fast. Braves fan in baseball, and as much as I like them, regular season MLB sucks. College baseball its great though.

I guess ill hang up the ole gamecock gear for a little bit, and just keep a loose eye on recruiting.

That's what happens when newbies win a coveted award they forget what got them there and become content.

SECUSC is now a hot commodity.
used that award to parlay it into a lucrative career.

He's now an Isles season ticket holder and just bought a brownstone in Williamsburg.

Chicken should start a Yankee transplant board where hockey and lacrosse can be discussed.

MSB

I actually don’t like hockey. Their fans piss me off.
The MSB is full of them.

We get it man. Tommy Lemiuex played with a broken eye socket and a torn labrum because he only makes 75,000 a year and was afraid to lose his job

Its hard to explain.

Basically my freshman year of college, so about 9-10 years ago, me and my friends from the south wanted to get into hockey since it looks like a fun sport, but lets be forreal, in SC you dont watch hockey, period.

Well we went through the teams, didnt want a front runner or anything, and selected teams based on a number of factors.

So I picked the islanders and dove in about 10 times more than I meant to. I have the gear, watch the games, its pretty fun to watch tbh. Saw the Spanos documentary, and one about their 80-83 4 time repeat 'ships. Its been fun. And now its paid off because we are winning the ship this year.

Clippers was the same thing really. I grew up a hornets fan but when stupid Bob changed them to the bobcats alot of us made a switch and I was young enough to do so. I picked the shitty Clippers, then they got Blake and CPIII, and now thats over but Thornwell is there so thats been fun to watch.

Dude i don’t think hockey is watched south of VA
NC is so fairweathwr with it. Sure we have the Canes but no one has given a shite about them since 06. Tampa seems to be having fun but i think in the southeast if you aren’t winning it’s a fairweather sport.

One thing I’ll say about Rangers fans here is the team blows and they show up every night. Isles are in a fight with their franchise since they play games on LI or in BK.
The Nassau Colliseum is a dump from what I’ve been told.

Islanders are getting a new arena on the island dont you worry. And who gives a shite what the fake NY team is doing.

Hockeys pretty intense once you get into it. You just have to actively try to pay attention. no one in the south gives a shite minus Tampa and Nashville.

Islanders 2019 champs.

They've been saying this for like 20 years
I understand the fan base is most Long Island, but they should just stay in Brooklyn
Park Slope is cooler anyway.

Well more people than who care about the Islanders thats for sure.

As I've said it's a fine sport if you turn off the noise of the Hardos.
Hockey Hipsters are the new Soccer Hipsters.
Soccer is too mainstream now.

It's the time of year for filler sports--stuff you try to convince yourself you enjoy but are really killing time.

Baseball is number one. 162 games in a season? Even if I wanted to care, it's the epitome of meaningless games. And all the arguments about how close things are a playoff time makes no sense. It would be just as close with 80 games and each game would be exactly twice as meaningful. And as far as college, I firmly believe the only reason 80% of Gamecock baseball fans exist is because that's the only sport we're consistently relevant in. Take a survey of actual fans (not nutcases on message boards) and I bet the vast majority would give up our entire baseball program for a run like Clemson football.

NBA playoffs are solid. All 3 months of them.

Hockey is definitely a sport (in comparison to baseball) but it's just a cluster. I know some Northerners will argue I don't get it, and that's fine, but it's just madness for a while and then there's a goal followed by more mayhem.

Soccer I can get behind. EPL is in the home stretch and every game matters. Champions League is just fun to watch and women's soccer is a very good product. To me, in comparing high level professional sports between genders, soccer is the closest. For disclaimer, I just recently started watching it (the past 3-4 years), thanks to my oldest kid playing it.

So, for optimism: If you actually like baseball, it's cool. If you're just a gamecock fan, like me, I just hope to hit the ballpark a few times, let my kids run around, and drink some beers at the Fireflies. It'll be a successful season if I get a face sunburn a few times and the Gamecocks make it out of a regional. Soccer is fun. And you can grill anything and it smells great.
