I'm thinking 1 and done in the sec tourny may hurt our chances at the NIT.
Lets look at last years Nebraska team
Awful OOC, 13-5 in the Big Ten
one and done in the BigTen Tourney
They got into the NIT.
The 3 above us will get into the NCAAT.
I find it hard that the NIT would keep us out.
Say we go 13-5 in conference.
19-14 in total with a 1 and done in the SECT
Last years LSU team was 17-14 with an 8-10 record and made the NIT.

here's what's left based on the warped NET ranks
at MSU #26
Alabama #53
at Missouri #93
at Texas AM #73
Georgia #123
Gamecocks moved up 11 spots to #82 with win over then #30 Ole Miss (now #35).
overall SOS = 21, OOC SOS = 102
Q1 = 3-7
Q2 = 4-3
Q3 = 2-1
Q1 = 4-1
Baylor is currently 32 in the NET rank and has 2 Q4 losses on the season. Cincinnati is currently 27 in NET rank and has 1 Q4 loss this year.
27 Cincinnati: avg opponent NET 144, avg opp rank 88, Cin SOS 82, Cin OOC SOS 149, 6 total wins vs Q1/Q2
32 Baylor: avg opponent NET 112, avg opp rank 49, BAY SOS 36, BAY OOC SOS 204, 11 total wins vs Q1/Q2
82 USC: avg opponent NET 95, avg opp rank 19, USC SOS 21, USC OOC SOS 102, 7 total wins vs Q1/Q2
Carolina's "nitty gritty" team sheet compared to both Cincinnati & Baylor favors the Gamecocks in every qualifier...except the conclusive NET # assigned to each team. the only area Baylor has an advantage is 4 more Q1/Q2 wins, but also has 1 more Q4 loss than USC.
I don't want to hear any more about a Dec 5 loss 2700 miles away from campus and 7220 ft above sea level.
eta - Cincinnati is currently projected as a 7 seed and Baylor an 8 seed, in the NCAAT by ESPN.

The difference is Cinci is a known name among hoops and 21-4
Baylor 17-9 in a "perceived" better conference.
Just a question, why bring up those 2 teams to compare to us?

Why are you so down on us and our conference. We have a shot to make it still whether you think so or not.

I'm not, just trying to get people to say things so I don't.
(moreso LSU fans, sorry if it spills over)

didn't say we didn't have a shot you must be confusing me with someone else.
Didn't you say you stopped paying attention to basketball thought because it's baseball season?

we're getting hammered for the Wyoming(Q4) loss. apparently it's okay to have 1, and even 2 Q4 losses, if you aren't South Carolina this season.
Nov 9
Nov 17
Nov 26
Dec 5
if the NCAA selection committee is gonna hold 1st week November games as meaningful as late season games, then college basketball should be allowed to start practicing July 1 each summer.
eta - USC/Cincinnati

#82 SC 3-7 Q1 / 4-3 Q2 / 2-1 Q3 / 4-1 Q4 - SOS 21
15 of Cin 21 wins are against Q3/Q4. USC has 1 more Q1/Q2 win than Cin.

Yes I do that jokingly everytime we lose. But I'm still watching. We seem to be getting better, and that Ole Miss game was electric.
I just said that becuase every thread I see you talkin about us maybe getting into the NIT or that the SEC sucks constantly. its like youre trolling your own team.
I know youre pullin for us just cant tell if youre tryna frick with ppl or actually think that stuff
Posted on 2/20/19 at 2:09 pm to SECUSC4
1) I'm trying to frick with people
2) I really don't think the SEC is that great
3) I think we've had a magic turnaround but the schedule/conference being shite outside of the top 3 has helped us.
4) I really don't think what we did OOC is all that big of a deal, we lost to better teams, it happens. (Other than that one Wyoming loss but that's a fluke, last year Villanova lost to St Johns that had 1 win in conference)
That said it hurts us for an NCAAT as shown from what Nebraska did last year, which I see as very similar to us. Although we may have had a tougher OOC schedule than them.
I do think at this point we are a good solid lock for the NIT.
But I'm playing more into it as LSU fans seem to think that the SEC is on of the top basketball conferences this year, but at the same time saying we've had an easy schedule. Really doesn't add up.

Cinci is the name compared to us, they'll get in.
Baylor has that "perceived" big 12 which is actually a crock of shite this year. They'll get in.
I actually think we can sneak in as a 12-11 maybe one of those first 4 games if we finish the conference 13-5 (especially if LSU, UK and UT remain around where they are)

a road win at Mississippi State (26 NET) this saturday better jump USC every bit as much as the 11 spots the win over (30 NET) Ole Miss at home did.

in the SECT I’d love another shot at UT and LSU.
LSU because i think we are a different team shooting the ball now (we shot 26% from 3 vs LSU)
And UT, well because it’s March and everyone knows that’s Rick Barnes’ kryptonite

Among SEC teams in March i like UK the most followed by LSU then UT
Simply because of talent and coaching in that order as well.

What is NET and why is that all that's being used to compare teams this year?

Prior to last nights Florida win they were a NET of 33.
Assuming after last night they will rise
Just boosting our resume.

Maik Kotsar has now missed 14 free throws in a row. He hasn't made any since the Auburn game on January 22.
